  • Patent number: 10638967
Abstract: A handheld radio device that incorporates within equipment typically carried by a first-responder but with added functionality which enables assessments of a subject's cognitive, auditory, visual, and speech function. In addition to providing two-way tactical radio functionality, the handheld radio device operates to generate haptic, audible, and visual stimuli, and then assess a subject utilizing the handheld radio device based on the subject's responses to the stimuli on the interfaces and sensors of the handheld radio device. Because this functionality is provided in equipment this is already typically carried by the first-responder, assessments that are more forward-deployed and closer to the point and time of injury, exposure, or period of interest can occur.

  • Patent number: 8653822
Abstract: A chopperless ambient field apparatus and method is described having top and bottom sensing plates; a transistor-based device having first, second and third terminals; a first signal line coupled to the top plate and the first terminal of the device; a second signal line coupled to the bottom plate and the second terminal of the device; at least one controllable grounding circuit coupled to at least the first and second plates and to the first terminal of the device; an electrical parameter detector coupled to the second and third terminals of the device; and a protective enclosure disposed about the top and bottom plates, the device, and the detector, wherein with control of the grounding circuit, the detector measures AC fields and quasi-static DC electric fields impinging on the plates. A calibration procedure converts the unit to a DC measuring device.

  • Patent number: 7841267
Abstract: An arrangement for recoilless launch including a non-gaseous reaction mass having a weight in a range of about 25% to about 75% of a weight of a projectile. For the same projectile energy, less propellant is required than a rocket, which minimizes backblast and reduces before-launch weight. The recoilless launching is adapted to shoulder-launched projectiles in a confined space. The reaction mass may be particles associated with a propellant so as to be released concurrently as the propellant turns into gas and accelerated by and with the propellant gas in a nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4067013
Abstract: An automatic thresholding reference and detection circuit which generates a signal in time which is a replica of the radar return signal's doppler spectrum. The radar signal return is processed by a target signal channel having a narrow bandwidth filter which produces a fine resolution replica of the signal spectrum, and by a reference signal channel having a wider bandwidth filter, which produces a smeared (or average) replica of the signal spectrum. The output of the reference signal channel is a threshold signal which, when compared to the output of the target signal channel, allows only the target signals to be passed for further processing and rejects clutter and thermal noise.
