Abstract: A vascular access disassembling needle assembly is provided that enables rapid insertion of a guide wire into the needle and subsequent rapid removal of the access needle off the guide wire by facile disassembly of the needle. The disassembling needle assembly includes a needle portion wherein the needle breaks apart by splitting along at least one seam that extends from the proximal to the distal end to allow removal of the guide wire. Various mechanical features are described that can facilitate the separation of the needle body along at least one seam. Once one or more seams are separated, the needle body may be removed from the guide wire without the need to withdraw the needle along the length of the guide wire, which permits preloading of expanders and other medical devices onto the guidewire.

Abstract: Multi-dimensional spectra associated with a specimen are reconstructed using lower dimensional spectra as constraints. For example, a two-dimensional spectrum associated with diffusivity and spin-lattice relaxation time is obtained using one-dimensional spectra associated with diffusivity and spin-lattice relaxation time, respectively, as constraints. Data for a full two dimensional spectrum are not acquired, leading to significantly reduced data acquisition times.

Abstract: Provided is a multi-configuration transportable demolition pouch that includes a cruciform shaped section of fabric with a central explosive containing area and four trimmable flaps, a fastener on each of the flaps, a strap accepting slit, a first and a second strap, a fabric lid and priming hole, and one or more energetic device that can be selected based on desired blast footprint. The pouch can be trimmed when using smaller quantities of explosives to reduce its footprint and facilitate ease of carrying and emplacement. The device has attachment features to aid in transport and to provide proper spacing and attachment points for demolitions and breeching techniques involving multiple charges. The pouch provides components to allow for blast footprint alteration and for water tamping to reduce blast effects to nearby personnel, as well as to increase the efficiency of the explosive charge.

Abstract: Optical and electronic detection of chemicals, and particularly strong electron-donors, by 2H to 1T phase-based transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) films, detection apparatus incorporating the TMD films, methods for forming the detection apparatus, and detection systems and methods based on the TMD films are provided. The detection apparatus includes a 2H phase TMD film that transitions to the 1T phase under exposure to strong electron donors. After exposure, the phase state can be determined to assess whether all or a portion of the TMD has undergone a transition from the 2H phase to the 1T phase. Following detection, TMD films in the 1T phase can be converted back to the 2H phase, resulting in a reusable chemical sensor that is selective for strong electron donors.
