Abstract: The Snail transcription factor has been identified as a repressor of the expression of E-cadherin. The expression of Snail induces invasive and metastatic capacity in tumour cells. This invention presents: a new target protein, Snail, for the identification of new antitumoral compounds and a new diagnostic tumour marker, indicative of tissue invasion and metastatic capacity.
