  • Publication number: 20090124019
Abstract: The present invention relates to the quantification of organic compounds originating from a chromatography system that does not involve the use of patterns, comprising the continuous conversion of the carbon of the compounds into carbon dioxide (CO2) involving a chemical reaction and the mixing of same, before or after separation, with a known, constant flow of a carbon compound, preferably CO2, with carbon isotope-13 (13C). The mixture is introduced into a mass spectrometer in which the isotopic ratio 12C/13C is continuously measured either in the carbon or in a characteristic ion originating from same. The isotope ratio is converted into a carbon mass flow measurement using on-line isotope dilution.
