  • Patent number: 10608246
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an anode for a lithium-ion battery and a method of manufacturing the same. The anode is manufactured from a material composed of Si and C known as SBA-15/C having a porous structure of mesopores interconnected by micropores, wherein carbon nanofibers occupy the pore space of the porous structure. The anode has improved conductivity properties and allows to mitigate the drawbacks linked to the volumetric expansion of the anode during the operation of a lithium-ion battery.

  • Patent number: 9583302
Abstract: A piece of scientific/technological equipment is presented for the generation of a convergent photon beam for radiotherapy or other applications. This equipment consists of adequately modifying the trajectory of an electron beam from a linear accelerator (LINAC) by applying magnetic and/or electric fields. These electrons perpendicularly impact the surface of a curved material that has a particular curvature ratio (anode), thus generating X-rays. The interaction of the electrons with the atoms of the anode's material generate X-rays with a non-isotropic angular-spatial distribution, with a greater concentration in the focal direction, which is defined by the geometry of the anode. A curved collimator with an adequate curvature ratio is attached to the back of the anode. The collimator is made up of an array of a great number of small holes that point toward the focal point. This device transmits X-rays solely in the focal direction.

  • Patent number: 8575224
Abstract: Processes for obtaining aqueous dispersions comprising alcohols and acids obtained by hydrolysis of jojoba oil. Hydrolyzed jojoba oil products are treated by a process comprising neutralization of jojoba fatty acids with aliphatic organic amines dissolved in a co-solvent followed by the dispersion of both the neutralized fatty acids together with jojoba alcohols in an aqueous medium. The products obtained, generically named hydrolyzed jojoba oil (HJO), promote transdermal absorption and are useful vehicles for carrying a wide range of pharmaceutical and cosmetic compositions, including pharmaceutical and cosmetic compositions comprising either lipophilic or hydrophilic active principles. The HJO can also be used to produce a semisolid, self-emulsified jojoba oil (SEJO), obtained by emulsifying the HJO in jojoba oil.

  • Publication number: 20100104379
Abstract: Disclosed is a structure as a ‘blanket’ constituted by blocks preferably of concrete linked (in orthogonal directions) through chords, wires, strings made of materials resistant to strengths, and the chemical environment wherein it is placed, all in order to resist hydraulic actions. The blocks basically constitute a body formed by two truncated-conic linked by their bases and located (bonded) one beside the other in a same plane, allowing the blanket to intimately adapt to the shape of the underlying surface. This layout allows the blankets to pile up one upon the other, since the block hemi-bodies fit in the empty spaces of the blankets. This geometrical advantage allows the distribution of hydraulic forces in the three directions of space, where de layers behave as a sole flexible structure. This latter aspect is the fundamental innovation (vertical fitting), like the block geometry, with disposition thereof upon a resistant mesh (articulations).
