Abstract: A flight propulsion system for Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) and Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) aircraft, having a two cyclorotors, installed in the front and rear portions of a pair-wings mechanism involving top wing and bottom wing, three degree-of-freedom DOF adjusting mechanism for pair-wings, a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma actuators, a bar mechanism for pitching oscillation and rotation speed controls and rear cyclorotor, a yawing mechanism for rear cyclorotor, all on each side of the flight vehicle. This propulsion system is particularly useful for VTOL aircraft. The main features are: high controllability and manoeuvrability, low noise and environmental pollutions, VTOL, STOL, hover state flights, marine and ground take-off and landing, high safety, suitable for different aircraft scales and for different missions and purposes, instant altering the flight direction.

Abstract: This patent application describes a film developed from natural compounds to cover wounds, whose method of application is in the form of individual disposable packages, vials, syringes and/or others. This wound dressing provides a moist environment at the wound site allowing the occurrence of the autolytic debridement. The film incorporates bioactive agents such as acetylsalicylic acid, essential oils, plant extracts and others, which confer antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and regenerative properties. The application method is also explored in order to simplify the life of patients, and to minimise pain and discomfort felt by them, during primary care treatment.

Abstract: The invention refers to a new process for the production of purification of high purity plasmid DNA. The process comprehends: a) the production of cells containing plasmid DNA, b) the disruption of the cells in order to obtain a lysate containing plasmid DNA, c) a concentration step by precipitation with isopropanol, d) a pre-purification and conditioning step by the addition of ammonium sulphate, e) a purification step using hydrophobic interaction chromatography, f) a final concentration and/or buffer exchange step. The process is scaleable, it does not use enzymes or mutagenic agents and it enables the preparation of plasmid DNA with pharmaceutical grade, which complies with the requirements of regulatory agencies. The invention belongs to the technical domain of Biochemical Engineering/Biotechnology.
