Abstract: The invention relates to a system to assist walking in spinal cord injured people, who preserve hip flexion capacity, comprising a pair of KAFO-type orthoses with: (a) an angular actuator (5) in each knee; (b) an orientation and acceleration sensor (6) on each leg; (c) a power supply and control system (7) to which all the sensors and actuators are connected; (d) a control algorithm deciding when to flex or extend the knee depending on the walking cycle, using information from the sensors.

Abstract: The present invention relates to compounds of pharmaceutical interest. Abstract: Disclosed embodiments include a distributed system and server for detecting changes to web pages comprises (a) a Web Change Detection (WCD) server connected to the network, and (b) one or more WCD agents stored on the WCD server configured to be executed directly on a web browser to detect web page changes. The WCD comprises (a) an agent storage module configured to store the WCD agents, (b) a WCD repository to store a WCD information regarding the web pages in the server memory, and (c) a WCD changes detector configured for receiving information sent by the WCD agents and detecting changes on the web pages. The WCD system relies on the web users accessing sites to collaboratively detect the changes on the web pages, eliminating the need for crawler estimates of web-page changes.

Abstract: A method for analysis of 2-D gel images obtained using electrophoresis. More particularly, a molecular block-matching method for establishing the correspondence between protein spots in a diagnostic-test image and protein spots in a reference image. Individual protein spot matching is performed, thereby removing the need for alignment of the entire reference and test images and permitting automatic labeling of individual protein spots. The method for analysis of 2-D gel images is fully automated, thus making it ideally suited for protein information retrieval systems.

Abstract: Disclosed embodiments include a Java messaging method for efficient inter-node and intra-node communications on computer systems with multi-core processors interconnected via high-speed network interconnections. According to one embodiment, the Java messaging method accesses the high-speed networks and memory more directly and reduces message buffering. Additionally, intra-node communications utilize shared memory transfers within the same Java Virtual Machine. The described Java messaging method does not compromise Java portability and is both user and application transparent.
