Publication number: 20160092790Abstract: The proposed method is used for classification in open-set scenarios, wherein often it is not possible to first obtain the training data for all possible classes that may arise during the testing stage. During the test phase, test samples belonging to one of the classes used in the training phase are classified based on a ratio between similarity scores, as known correct class and test samples belonging to any other class are to be rejected and classified as unknown.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 4, 2014Publication date: March 31, 2016Applicants: SAMSUNG ELETRÔNICA DA AMAZÔNIA LTDA., UNIVERSIDADE ESTADUAL DE CAMPINAS - UNICAMPInventors: Pedro RIBEIRO MENDES JÚNIOR, Roberto MEDEIROS DE SOUZA, Rafael DE OLIVEIRA WERNECK, Bernardo VECCHIA STEIN, Daniel WATANABE, Waldir RODRIGUES DE ALMEIDA, Otávio AUGUSTO BIZETTO PENATTI, Ricardo DA SILVA TORRES, Anderson ROCHA

Patent number: 9090702Abstract: Modern sugarcane cultivars are complex hybrids resulting from crosses among several species of the Saccharum genus. Traditional breeding methods have been extensively employed in different countries along the past decades to develop varieties with increased sucrose yield, and resistant to plagues and diseases. Conventional varietal improvement is, however, limited by the narrow pool of suitable markers. In this sense, molecular genetics is seen as a promising tool to assist in the process of molecular marker identification. The present invention concerns the identification of 348 genes associated with sucrose content in sugarcane plants. The genes were found to be differentially expressed when high sucrose and low sucrose plants and populations of plants were compared and/or when high and low sucrose internodes were compared. The expression data was obtained using cDNA microarray and quantitative PCR technologies.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2011Date of Patent: July 28, 2015Assignees: UNIVERSIDADE DE SAO PAULO-USP., UNIVERSIDADE ESTADUAL DE CAMPINAS-UNICAMP., FUNDACAO DE AMPARO A PESQUISA DO ESTADO DE SAO PAULO-FAPESP., CENTRO DE TECNOLOGIA CANAVIEIRA, CENTRAL DE ALCOOL LUCELIA LTDA.Inventors: Glaucia Mendes Souza, Flavia Stal Papini-Terzi, Flavia Riso Rocha, Alessandro Jaquiel Waclawovsky, Ricardo Zorzetto Nicollielo Vêncio, Josélia Oliveira Marques, Juliana de Maria Felix, Marcelo Menossi Teixeira, Marcos Buckeridge, Amanda Pereira de Souza, Eugênio César Ulian

Publication number: 20100208243Abstract: The present invention relates to a thermally compensated optical sensing system for identifying various types of liquid fuels and/or the ratio in liquid fuel mixtures on real time. In this system, an optical fiber is used as a light guide and a sensor device for determining the refractive index of liquid fuels through the principle of reflectivity. Starting from a light source, light is transmitted interiorly of the optical fiber to the test probe which is in contact with the fuel. The optical signal resulting from the interaction between light and fuel is a function of refractive indexes of the optical fiber and the fuel, the wavelength of light used, and the fuel temperature. The system proposed herein relates to the use of this optical system in liquid fuels by using optical fibers having suitable refractive indexes as a function of the fuel type and/or fuel mixture being analyzed, allowing the sensitivity of the optical system to be optimized according to application requirements.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 6, 2008Publication date: August 19, 2010Applicant: UNIVERSIDADE ESTADUAL DE CAMPINAS - UNICAMPInventors: Carlos Kenichi Suzuki, Edmilton Gusken, Allan Caro Mercado, Eric Fujiwara, Eduardo Ono
