Patent number: 11378565Abstract: A method for in-ova fertilisation determination and gender determination on a closed egg. The aim is to specify a method for the in-ovo fertilisation determination and gender determination on a closed egg. This aim is achieved by a method in which a closed egg is positioned, candled and/or illuminated, next an image of the closed egg is recorded, then the captured data are evaluated and the position of the cardiovascular system located in the egg is calculated. A detection unit is adjusted via the calculated position of the cardiovascular system by means of a positioning unit and subsequently the blood is stimulated, then the blood-specific and blood-foreign absorption spectra are detected and selected, the fertilisation is ascertained and then the spectra containing blood-foreign information are compensated by a compensation method and the spectra are classified for sex determination.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2019Date of Patent: July 5, 2022Assignee: Technische Universität DresdenInventors: Grit Preusse, Gerald Steiner, Roberta Galli, Edmund Koch, Christian Schnabel

Patent number: 11381054Abstract: The invention relates to a method for stably transmitting laser radiation through an optical waveguide (3), wherein two or more modes of the laser radiation propagating in the optical waveguide (3) interfere and form a mode interference pattern in the optical waveguide, as a result of which a thermally induced refractive index grating is produced in the optical waveguide (3). It is an object of the invention to demonstrate an effective approach for stabilizing the output signal of the optical waveguide (3) in a fiber-based laser/amplifier combination at high output powers, i.e. for avoiding mode instability. The invention achieves this object by virtue of the fact that a relative spatial phase shift between the mode interference pattern and the thermally induced refractive index grating is set in the direction of propagation of the laser radiation.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2018Date of Patent: July 5, 2022Assignees: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der angewandten Forschung e.V., Friedrich-Schiller-Universität JenaInventors: Christoph Stihler, César Jáuregui Misas, Jens Limpert, Andreas Tünnermann

Patent number: 11368196Abstract: Communication systems and methods in accordance with various embodiments of the invention utilize modulation on zeros. Carrier frequency offsets (CFO) can result in an unknown rotation of all zeros of a received signal's z-transform. Therefore, a binary MOCZ scheme (BMOCZ) can be utilized in which the modulated binary data is encoded using a cycling register code (e.g. CPC or ACPC), enabling receivers to determine cyclic shifts in the BMOCZ symbol resulting from a CFO. Receivers in accordance with several embodiments of the invention include decoders capable of decoding information bits from received discrete-time baseband signals by: estimating a timing offset for the received signal; determining a plurality of zeros of a z-transform of the received symbol; identifying zeros from the plurality of zeros that encode received bits by correcting fractional rotations resulting from the CFO; and decoding information bits based upon the received bits using a cycling register code.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2021Date of Patent: June 21, 2022Assignees: California Institute of Technology, The Regents of the University of California, Technische Universität BerlinInventors: Philipp Walk, Babak Hassibi, Peter Jung, Hamid Jafarkhani
