Patent number: 8701472Abstract: The spatial center of mass and a mass of an object can be determined by orientating the suspended object in at least two different spatial positions and measuring the orientation of the object in each of the different spatial positions the forces acting on the suspension devices because of the suspended object, the forces acting on the suspension devices being resolved into three independent force components. A center of area of the object and the associated force effect lines are determined for each of the at least two spatial positions, the center of area of the respective spatial position being determined with an inclined tension compensation of the suspension devices. The spatial center of mass is determined by superimposing at least two force effect lines.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2008Date of Patent: April 22, 2014Assignees: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Foerderung der angewandten Forschung e.V., Universität RostockInventors: Oliver Wurst, Martin-Christoph Wanner, Birger Schubert

Patent number: 8273130Abstract: The invention relates to a prosthesis for replacing a joint connection, wherein like magnetic fields from the condyle 10, socket 12 and joint collar 14 overlap in such a way that the repulsive forces generate a suspended state of the condyle 10 in the bearing and the damping effect is maximized. The invention is also directed to a method for replacing a bone junction in a mammal, wherein the prosthesis is fastened to the articular bone and repulsive forces generate a levitated state of the condyle 10 under load.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2008Date of Patent: September 25, 2012Assignee: Universität RostockInventor: Georg Gradl

Patent number: 8216446Abstract: The invention relates to a method of labelling and analysing nucleic acids. More specifically, the invention relates to a method of analysing nucleic acids, which comprises contacting the nucleic acids to be detected, which are in the form of single-stranded nucleic acid strands partially (i.e. over a part of the total length of the nucleic acid strands) hybridized with protective strands, with substances which specifically react with nucleobases of the single-stranded sections of the nucleic acid strands, and which are capable of subsequently participating in a reversible redox reaction in electroanalytical processes known to the skilled worker.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2006Date of Patent: July 10, 2012Assignee: Universität RostockInventors: Gerd-Uwe Flechsig, Thomas Reske

Patent number: 8211291Abstract: A sensor apparatus for an electrochemical measuring device. The apparatus has at least one electrode, which can be heated using a heating current in the form of an alternating current, and a first and a second connection for the supply line for the heating current. The electrochemical measuring device is connected to the electrode by a third connection. In this case, the apparatus has the third connection connected to the electrode by a bridge circuit, which is also connected to the first and second connections. There also is provided a method for carrying out electrochemical measurements at elevated temperature. The sensor apparatus and the method for carrying out electrochemical measurements enable electrochemical measurements with little interference and directly heated electrodes in conjunction with a simplified design of the electrodes.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2007Date of Patent: July 3, 2012Assignee: Universitaet RostockInventors: Gerd-Uwe Flechsig, Jan Gimsa, Peter Gründler, Harald Grabow

Patent number: 8206333Abstract: The present invention relates to an ocular implant, particularly a glaucoma stent. It is the object of the present invention to devise an ocular implant which allows the ocular eye pressure to be regulated, i.e., to be maintained at a desired level, while preventing the flow resistance from increasing over time, for example due to fibrosis. In order to achieve this object, the ocular implant according to the invention comprises a small tube (5), the wall surface (3) of which encloses a hollow duct that is open on both sides in the longitudinal direction of the hollow duct, wherein a first opening (1) allowing ocular humor to flow in and a second opening (2) allowing the ocular humor to be discharged is provided, and wherein the wall surface (3) is formed by a liquid-tight material, and wherein at least one pressure-controlled valve (4) is disposed in the area of the wall surface (3).Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2008Date of Patent: June 26, 2012Assignee: Universitaet RostockInventors: Wolfram Schmidt, Katrin Sternberg, Detlef Behrend, Rudolf Guthoff, Klaus-Peter Schmitz
