  • Publication number: 20150039523
Abstract: Methods and devices for quantitatively mapping urban time uses to land uses in an urban unit and methods and devices for classifying urban units are disclosed. In some aspects, for each activity an associated time to be spent for the activity in one urban unit is used to provide an activity allocation parameter to be used when planning a second urban unit. In other aspects, performance indicators compared to their respective activity allocation parameters are used to classify the urban units. In one example, urban units are classified as self-sufficient or non-self-sufficient based on activity allocation parameters.

  • Publication number: 20140244181
Abstract: A plasma glucose estimation system is provided comprising a sensor which generates a signal from a glucose concentration measured in a medium, filtering means and a glycemic estimator. Also a method comprising: i) generating a signal which represents the glucose concentration measured in the medium; ii) filtering the signal generated; iii) applying a set of local estimation models, to the previous signal, obtaining a set of local plasma glucose estimates; iv) applying a weighting to each one of the local estimates previously obtained; v) estimating a plasma glucose concentration by the sum of the weighted local estimates obtained in the previous step; vi) correcting the signal obtained from the previous step from reference glycemia measurements and obtaining the final plasma glucose estimate.

  • Patent number: 8140426
Abstract: An auction procedure intended to replace the known review process by an auction based approach is provided. The better a submitted work by an author, the more this author may bid to have it appear in some congresses or journals. If the assessment of quality represented by the bid is right, the author will be rewarded in some new sort of scientific currency, otherwise the author will suffer loses of the currency.

  • Patent number: 8026219
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel linear peptides with antimicrobial activity. Said peptides are made up of 11 amino acids, and they have the amino group of the amino acid constituting the N-terminal end in a non-derived form or functionalized with an acetyl group, p-toluene sulphonyl, benzyl or benzoyl. The amino acid constituting the C-terminal end of said peptides is in carboxamide form. The invention describes the synthesis and use of said peptides as antimicrobial agents to combat pathogenic bacteria for plants. The invention also relates to compositions containing said peptides and an auxiliary agent, and to a method for preventing and treating infections and diseases of plants caused by pathogenic bacteria.
