  • Patent number: 12165330
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products are provided for segmenting a brain tumor from various MRI sequencing techniques. A plurality of MRI sequences of a head of a patient are received. Each MRI sequence includes a T1-weighted with contrast image, a Fluid Attenuated Inversion Recovery (FLAIR) image, a T1-weighted image, and a T2-weighted image. Each image of the plurality of MRI sequences is registered to an anatomical atlas. A plurality of modified MRI sequences are generated by removing a skull from each image in the plurality of MRI sequences. A tumor segmentation map is determined by segmenting a tumor within a brain in each image in the plurality of modified MRI sequences. The tumor segmentation map is applied to each of the plurality of MRI sequences to thereby generate a plurality of labelled MRI sequences.

Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus are included that are configured to model microvascular obstruction (MVO) in patients. According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a multi-scale model is configured to mimic myocardial microcirculation of coronary vessels. The model includes collaterals configured to provide alternative pathways possibly bypassing the MVO, and configured to model coronary artery compliance for spatially resolved fluid transport through the coronary vessels. The model is configured to simulate the MVO by increasing flow resistance in at least one of the modelled coronary vessels, or by blocking the at least one of the modelled coronary vessels completely. The model is also configured to mimic behavior of fluid transport in the coronary vessels during diagnostics or treatment, to design and optimize therapy protocols for the MVO.

Further provided are methods for introducing, modifying, or modulating at least one wall-associated kinase (WAK) in(to) a plant cell, tissue, organ, or whole plant and thereby causing a reduced synthesis of benzoxazinoid and in turn increased fungal resistance. There are further provided methods to identify and/or modify downstream effector molecules in a WAK signalling cascade. Finally, plant cells, tissues, organs or whole plants having increased fungal resistance and methods using substances to activate signalling pathways in a targeted way are provided.

  • Publication number: 20180122063
Abstract: There is disclosed a system for estimating the volume of food on a plate, for example meal, with a mobile device. The system uses a camera and a light pattern projector. Images of the food with and without a projected light pattern on it enable to compute the tridimensional shape and volume, while image segmentation and recognition steps estimate one or more food types in said images. By applying accessible knowledge databases, the carbs content is estimated and the associated insulin bolus doses are provided. Developments comprise coding of the light pattern, different light sources and associated wavelengths, motion compensations, additional optics, estimation of fat content and associated multi-wave boluses. The invention can be implemented in a glucometer or in an insulin pump controller provided with a test strip port or with a mobile phone.
