    Abstract: Disclosed are methods of treating neurodegenerative diseases or disorders in a subject in need of such treatment. The methods comprise administering to a subject in need of such treatment a therapeutically effective amount of brevetoxin or brevetoxin derivatives. Included in the diseases and disorders are Alzheimer's Disease, Huntington's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, Multiple sclerosis (MS), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease) and other Motor Neuron Diseases, Prion Diseases, Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), and CNS dysfunctions such as schizophrenia, depression, and epilepsy. Also included are neurodegenerations resulting from stroke, heart attack, head and spinal cord trauma, traumatic brain injury, bleeding in the brain and other injuries to the central nervous system (CNS).
