Patent number: 9297899Abstract: A method of determining extrinsic calibration parameters for at least one sensor (102, 104, 106) mounted on transportable apparatus (100). The method includes receiving (202) data representing pose history of the transportable apparatus and receiving (202) sensor data from at least one sensor mounted on transportable apparatus. The method generates (204) at least one point cloud data using the sensor data received from the at least one sensor, each point in a said point cloud having a point covariance derived from the pose history data. The method then maximizes (206) a value of a quality function for the at least one point cloud, and uses (208) the maximized quality function to determine extrinsic calibration parameters for the at least one sensor.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2012Date of Patent: March 29, 2016Assignee: The Chancellor Masters and Scholars of the University of OxfordInventors: Paul Michael Newman, William Paul Maddern, Alastair Robin Harrison, Mark Christopher Sheehan

Publication number: 20160077109Abstract: The inventors have proposed a novel panel of human serum protein biomarkers for diagnosing hepatic fibrosis and cirrhosis. Presently there is no reliable non-invasive way of assessing liver fibrosis. A 2D-PAGE based proteomics study was used to identify potential fibrosis biomarkers. Serum from patients with varying degrees of hepatic scarring induced by infection with the hepatitis C virus (HCV) was analysed. Several proteins associated with liver scarring and/or viral infection were identified. These proteins include the inter-?-trypsin inhibitor heavy chain H4 fragments, complement factor H-related protein 1, CD5L, Apo L1, and ?2GPI. Increased and decreased thiolester cleavage of a2M and Complement C3, respectively, was also detected. The concentrations of these novel biomarkers can be determined using an immunoassay where the concentrations would reflect the extent of fibrosis. A fibrosis scoring scale for each of the novel biomarkers is proposed.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 20, 2015Publication date: March 17, 2016Applicant: The Chancellor, Masters and Scholars of The University of OxfordInventors: Bevin Gangadharan, Nicole Zitzmann, Raymond A. Patent number: 9222116Abstract: A microfluidic device and method for enzymatic processing of ultra-long macromolecules is accomplished using a microfluidic device a reaction chamber with a first manifold, a second manifold, and a plurality of reaction channels. Each reaction channel extends from the first manifold to the second manifold. First inlet and outlet channels fill the reaction channels via the manifolds with one or more macromolecule containers suspended in a first carrier fluid. The first inlet and outlet channels are configured such that a flow is guided through the reaction channels, and an enzymatic reagent is fed to the reaction chamber essentially without displacing the macromolecule containers trapped in the reaction channels. The second set of inlets and outlets are configured such that a flow established from the second inlet to the second outlet is guided through at least one of the manifolds and bypasses the reaction channels.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2011Date of Patent: December 29, 2015Assignees: DANMARKS TEKNISKE UNIVERSITAT—DTU, THE CHANCELLOR, MASTERS AND SCHOLARS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF OXFORDInventors: Rodolphe Marie, Anders Kristensen, Kristian Hagsted Rasmussen, Kalim Ullah Mir

Patent number: 8921568Abstract: Iminosugar compounds are described that have inbuilt delivery features by virtue of covalent incorporation of a tocopherol moiety, or alternative moieties that are analogs of tocopherol or select analogs of cholesterol, or its antagonist “Ezitimibe”; and are likely to have broad spectrum antiviral activity. The compounds differ from previous iminosugar compounds, even lipophillic ones, being more hydrophobic and resembling fats and oils in their partition behavior in vivo into lipid phases of lipoproteins, cellular lipid droplet organelles and biological membranes. These features confer a number of unique delivery attributes in vivo, favorable to the therapy of virus infections involving cells of the lymphoid system and the liver, in particular, but these features are also favorable in general for the treatment of virus infections of man and animals.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2013Date of Patent: December 30, 2014Assignees: Unither Virology, LLC, The Chancellor, Masters and Scholars of The University of OxfordInventors: J.
