Abstract: A colored contact lens whose color is produced by Bragg diffraction incorporates a crystalline colloidal ordered array of particles to impart vivid sparkling color to the whole lens or a portion of the lens. In some embodiments, for example, only portions of the lens that would be located on the iris of the eye may be colored.
