Abstract: Devices and or methods for monitoring respiratory functions of a subject. The system includes a first sensor for measuring the motion of at least on surface of a subject for abdominal, chest, or other area motion to determine volume changes in the area. The second sensor measures the thermal temperature of a target area or device on a surface of the patient, for example near the upper lip of the subject. Specific aspects of the patients breathing health may be analyzed from comparison of respiratory rates calculated from the two sensors. The systems and methods can detect regular breathing, slow breathing (hypopnea), fast breathing (tachypnea), no breathing (apnea), obstructed breathing, or other anomaly. The systems and method may further be configured to trigger an alarm in predetermined situations.

A second electrode is connected to the control assembly and extends into the hollow casing within the range of motion of the pivoting electrode. An electric power source is connected to the pivoting electrode and the second electrode, wherein charge on the electrodes produces a current arc between the pivoting electrode and the second electrode. A lift mechanism is positioned proximately to the hollow casing to control the electrodes position within the hollow casing.
Abstract: A glove is described to simultaneously, non-invasively, and continuously, over a period of time, monitor physiological parameters (e.g., blood pressure, blood glucose, oxygen saturation level, electrical activity of the heart, and/or heart rate) of a patient. A computing server that is either communicatively coupled to the glove or is a part of the glove uses the monitored physiological parameters to determine whether the patient has a physiological condition (e.g., hypotension, hypertension, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, hypoxia, hyperoxia, arrhythmia, a strong form of tachycardia, a mild form of tachycardia, and/or bradycardia). Related apparatuses, systems, methods, techniques and articles are also described.

Abstract: Methods for optimization of liquid oil production by huff-n-puff in shale reservoirs to achieve an improved (and optimal) oil recovery factor. The process determines and utilizes the optimum huff and puff times, number of cycles and soaking time under practical operation and reservoir conditions. The huff time in the process is a period so long that the pressure near the wellbore reaches the set maximum injection pressure during the huff period. The puff time in the process is the time required for the pressure near the wellbore to reach the set minimum production pressure during the puff period. Soaking is typically not necessary during the huff-n-puff gas injection in shale oil reservoirs. The number of huff-n-puff cycles is determinable by the time in which the economic rate cut-off is reached.

Abstract: Van der Waals heterojunctions are extended to semiconducting p-type single-walled carbon nanotube (s-SWCNT) and n-type film that can be solution-processed with high spatial uniformity at the wafer scale. The resulting large-area, low-voltage p-n heterojunctions can exhibit anti-ambipolar transfer characteristics with high on/off ratios. The charge transport can be efficiently utilized in analog circuits such as frequency doublers and keying circuits that are widely used, for example, in telecommunication and wireless data transmission technologies.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to exemplary embodiments of method, computer-accessible medium, system and software arrangements for, e.g., Cancer Hallmark Automata, a formalism to model the progression of cancers through discrete phenotypes (so-called hallmarks). The precise computational model described herein includes the automatic verification of progression models (e.g., consistency, causal connections, etc.), classification of unreachable or unstable states (e.g., “anti-hallmarks”) and computer-generated (individualized or universal) therapy plans. Exemplary embodiments abstractly model transition timings between hallmarks as well as the effects of drugs and clinical tests, and thus allows formalization of temporal statements about the progression as well as notions of timed therapies. Certain exemplary models discussed herein can be based on hybrid automata (e.g., with multiple clocks), for which relevant verification and planning algorithms exist.

Abstract: A wireless power transfer system includes a transmitter configured to transmit power to a receiver, for example, through coupled resonators. The transmitter receives feedback from the receiver, and uses the feedback to control the power transmission, to control a parameter at the receiver, for example, a rectified voltage output by the receiver. The feedback to the transmitter may be provided, for example, by an out-of-band radio system between the transmitter and receiver, by a reflection coefficient at the transmitter, and/or by an encoded modulation of power in the receiver, for example, in an impedance matching module. The transmitter may control the transmitted power, for example, by controlling a transmitter signal generator voltage (VSiG), a transmitter gate driver voltage (VGD), a transmitter amplifier voltage (VPA), and/or an impedance setting in a transmitter impedance matching module.
