  • Patent number: 9317536
Abstract: This invention relates to a system and methods for determining the placement of an object in a distributed key-value store by mapping the object to nodes in multidimensional hyperspace. A search function supports efficient object retrieval, even when the search query requests multiple objects and specifies them through non-primary keys. In response to a search query, the search is translated into hyperregions in the hyperspace to determine the set of nodes that hold the queried data object. The number of contacted nodes and the number of scanned objects are significantly reduced in comparison to prior art techniques.

  • Patent number: 9314154
Abstract: A visual function evaluation is performed using a sequence of interactions with a mobile device. A patient user may perform a variety of visual tests using the mobile device. The mobile device transmits the test results to a remote server implementing analysis of the visual function results using network service. The network service receives the test results, processes the results, and provides the processed results to a healthcare provider. The processed results may include trends of the user's visual function test performance. The healthcare provider, such as a physician, may optimize and administer treatment based on the data. Early detection of changes in visual function can enable the healthcare provider to individualize treatment, helping to prevent vision loss while minimizing visits to the office, discomfort, and expense.

  • Patent number: 9317922
Abstract: A system and method for recognition of images may include the use of alignment markers. The image recognized may be a pattern from an array, a character, a number, a shape, and/or irregular shapes. The pattern may be formed by elements in an array such as an identification marking and/or a sensor array. More particularly, the system and method relate to discriminating between images by accounting for the orientation of the image. The size and/or location of alignment markers may provide information about the orientation of an image. Information about the orientation of an image may reduce false recognitions. The system and method of image recognition may be used with identification markings, biosensors, micro-fluidic arrays, and/or optical character recognition systems.

  • Patent number: 9314590
Abstract: The present invention relates to apparatus for retroperfusion of tissues and organs. The apparatus comprises a catheter with a proximal end for engaging a supply of the fluid medium, and a distal end having an expandable-contractible chamber for installation into suitable vessels or organs. The expandable-contractible chamber comprises a conduit element having a fluid-filled hollow wall defining a lumen. The conduit element has a first deformable inner-facing section approximate a proximal end of the conduit and a second deformable inner-facing section approximate a distal end of the conduit element. Controlled application of a pressure at a proximal end of the conduit element causes deformation of the conduit into the lumen at its distal end thereby occluding the flow of fluid medium through the catheter. Controlled release of the pressure releases deformation of the fluid-filled conduit at its distal end thereby unblocking the flow of the fluid medium through the catheter.
