The first catadioptric group includes a solid lens having an input surface, a primary reflective surface, secondary reflective surface and an exit surface. The primary reflective surface is a curved surface concave towards the secondary reflective surface. A light flux entering through the input surface undergoes more than two reflections between the primary and secondary reflective surfaces, prior to exiting through the exit surface. At least one of the primary reflective surface and secondary reflective surface has a continuous and smooth topological profile.

Abstract: The present invention provides an agent for neurological disease, the agent comprising lipoprotein containing apolipoprotein E as the active substance thereof, in which a neuroprotective system via activation of neuroprotective molecules and/or the inactivation of neurodegeneration-inducing molecules, mediated by lipoprotein receptors, may work as a mechanism, and a prophylactic and therapeutic method for neurological diseases. The lipoproteins containing apolipoprotein E and/or neuroprotective system through, as the action mechanism, the activation of neuroprotective molecules and the inactivation of neurodegeneration-inducing molecules that are mediated by lipoprotein receptors have prophylactic and therapeutic effects of, including, inhibiting nerve cell apoptosis, on neurological disease such as various neurodegenerative diseases accompanied by nerve cell apoptosis as the essential condition.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for joining two materials, and a system for accomplishing the same. The method for joining two materials, in this aspect, includes placing an article including two dissimilar materials within a waveguide structure, the article located between a microwave source and reflective surface of the waveguide structure. The method for joining the two materials, in this aspect, further includes subjecting the article to microwaves from the microwave source while changing a relative position of the article with respect to the reflective surface to dynamically change a microwave field distribution within the waveguide and join the two dissimilar materials.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an anti-angiogenic composition, and more particularly, to a pharmaceutical anti-angiogenic composition including a microRNA-382 inhibitor. The inventors of the present invention have confirmed that microRNA-382, the expression of which is elevated in stomach cancer cells in a low oxygen environment, affects the promotion of angiogenesis induced in a low oxygen environment. Therefore, the pharmaceutical composition of the present invention inhibits microRNA-382 and thus inhibits angiogenesis and cell proliferation, and is expected ultimately to be valuably used in the treatment of cancer.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for exfoliating a laminar material to form an exfoliated material, in which the laminar material is ultrasonicated in a solution of a surfactant for sufficient time to form the exfoliated material. At all times during the ultrasonication the concentration of the surfactant in the solution is maintained sufficient to form a complete monolayer on the surfaces of the laminar material and the exfoliated material in the solution, or sufficient to sterically stabilise the laminar and exfoliated materials against aggregation.
Abstract: A biomolecular sensor system includes an array of magnetoresistive nanosensors designed for sensing biomolecule-conjugated superparamagnetic nanoparticles. Materials and geometry of each sensor element are designed for optimized sensitivity. The system includes magnetic field generators to apply forces to superparamagnetic nanoparticles for 1) nanoparticle manipulation, 2) sensor magnetic biasing, 3) magnetic pull-off measurement for differentiation against non-specific association, and 4) removal of all particles from the sensor array surface.
