Abstract: A method for transmitting blocks of data in data packets from a first device on a network to a second device on the network comprising the steps of, providing a File Transmitter Application in communication with the first device, which File Transmitter Application is adapted to control the transmission of the blocks of data in data packets on the network, including the timing of the commencement of the transmission of the data blocks on the network, providing a File Receiver Application in communication with the second device and in communication with the File Transmitter Application, which File Receiver Application is adapted to transmit Acknowledgment data to the File Transmitter Application relating to the receipt of data blocks received at the second device, commencing the transmission of a first data block from the first device to the second device, by way of the network and commencing the transmission of the second data block from the first device to the second device, by way of the network.
