Abstract: The present invention relates to discovery that TBK1 phosphorylates Syntaxin 17 and that phosphorylation of Syntaxin 17 is intimate to control autophagy initiation. The present invention is directed to this discovery and the use of TBK1 inhibitors or inhibitors of Syntaxin 17 phosphorylation alone or in combination with additional bioactive agents to inhibit autophagy in the treatment of disease, especially the treatment of cancers. Methods of treating various cancers are disclosed using TBK1 inhibitors to patients with cancer and into cancerous tissues for the treatment of cancer including the inhibition, amelioration, reduction in metastasis and in recurrence of cancer in remission. Assays and methods for identifying compounds as inhibitors of Syntaxin 17 and as potential therapeutic agents for cancer and autoimmune diseases are also diseased herein.
Abstract: The present prevention provides a surface coating for cooling a surface by light scattering comprising a plurality of successive layers, each of the layers may be comprised of a plurality of spheres arranged to form a structure comprised of packed spheres. Each layer may have a different arrangement of packed spheres to create to a different light scattering property in each of the layers. Abstract: Highly conductive electrical traces formed over mechanical steps or on non-planar surfaces with linewidths of 10 to 100 ?m and a method for forming such electrical traces are disclosed. The method employs two steps, with the first step using an aerosol jet printing (AJP) process to form thin electrical traces that serve as the seed layers for the second step. The first step preferably employs multiple passes with the AJP to create multiple seed sub-layers with improved continuity and conductivity. In the second step, the seed layers are subjected to an electrodeposition process that forms the bulk of the thickness of the electrical traces. The electrodeposition process may include one, two, or three phases at corresponding low or high biases, with low biases providing denser, more highly conductive plating sub-layers, while high biases provide plating sub-layers having better gap bridging properties.

Abstract: Steam cracking of ethane, a non-catalytic thermochemical process, remains the dominant means of ethylene production. The severe reaction conditions and energy expenditure involved in this process incentivize the search for alternative reaction pathways and reactor designs which maximize ethylene yield while minimizing cost and energy input. According to the present invention, ethylene yields as high as 68% were obtained with a quartz open tube reactor without the use of a catalyst or a cofed stream of oxidizing agents. The open tube reactor design promotes simplicity, low cost, and negligible coke formation. Reactor designs can be optimized to improve the conversion of ethane to ethylene via non-oxidative dehydrogenation, an approach which shows promise for decentralized production of ethylene from natural gas deposits.
