    Abstract: A method of improving the cosmetic appearance of human teeth comprising the step of contacting the teeth with a whitening powder composition after ingesting a chromogenic, tannin-containing food or beverage and thereby reducing staining of the teeth caused by tannins and/or chromogens. The tooth-whitening tablet is comprised of (i) at least one abrasive powder; (ii) at least one buffering powder; (iii) a complexing agent; and, optionally, (iv) an anti-cavity sweetener.
