  • Patent number: 4496270
Abstract: A chain cap is provided for forming a stable load suitable for vehicular travel from a plurality of elongate articles. A plurality of the chain caps are provided for encompassing the elongate articles. Each of the chain caps are provided with interfitting surfaces which interlock when the chain caps are stacked, tie bar surfaces which define tie bar channels extending between adjacent chain caps and conformal surfaces for engaging the elongate articles. Each of the elongate articles is engaged by at least a pair of the chain caps, the conformal surfaces of the chain caps engaging opposing sides of the elongate articles. A first planar array of the elongate articles is established, the elongate articles being disposed in a roughly parallel relationship with pairs of chain caps being adjacently disposed for defining a tie bar channel therebetween. A tie bar is mounted in the tie bar channel, the tie bar extending between adjacent pairs of chain caps.

  • Patent number: 4450974
Abstract: A litter container is provided that is particularly adapted for use in urban environments. A base is secured to a support surface with a first bolt ring that is disposed on an interior diameter of the base. A body is disposed atop the base for receiving a litter can and shielding the bolt ring from the view of ordinary observers. A second bolt ring is provided for securing the body to the base. The second bolt ring being disposed on the outer diameter of the base and engaging the underside of the body to shield the second bolt ring from view. A top is provided which is pivotally mounted to the base about a vertical axis. A stop is provided for holding the top in vertical alignment with the base and one or more doors are disposed in the top, the stop and the pivotal mechanism for the doors being shielded from view. The base is provided with multiple mounting apertures so that the litter container can be mounted at various angular orientations.

  • Patent number: 4438484
Abstract: A vandal resistant lighting bollard for use in an urban environment is provided comprising a steel base adapted for anchoring in an area requiring illumination and a steel housing received in an upright fashion on the base. One or more windows are disposed in the steel housing, the windows extending flush or parallel with the sides of the housing and the windows being formed from a tough, impact resistant, polycarbonate material. A source of illumination is disposed within the housing for projecting light through the window and an arrangement is provided for resiliently mounting the source of illumination within the housing to isolate the source of illumination from vibration and external impact.
