Patent number: 8424268Abstract: Grid members, namely a runner (10) and wall angle (400) for suspended ceiling grids, are disclosed. Certain embodiments of the runner and the wall angle have two web portions (28, 30) and at least one distinct indent portion (62) to define a space between the web portions. An adhesive (56) may be disposed within one or more of the indent portions (62) to adhere the two web portions (28, 30) to each other. Certain embodiments of the runner or wall angle have flange portions (32, 34) that may have indent portions as well. One or more of these indent portions may contain adhesive. Some embodiments of the runner or wall angle have overturned cap portions on the flange portions, and an adhesive may be placed between the overturned cap portions and upwardly facing surfaces of the flange portions.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 2009Date of Patent: April 23, 2013Assignee: USG Interiors, LLCInventors: Graham Keith Field, Thomas Andreas Voigt

Publication number: 20130081554Abstract: Building panels such as ceiling tiles have compositions including starch as a binder and a coagulant for the starch. The building panels also can include a fibrous material and a filler. In one aspect, the starch is coagulated by the coagulant resulting in the starch being distributed substantially uniformly through a thickness of the building panels, whereby certain physical properties of the building panels and a wet-felting process for manufacturing the building panels are improved. The coagulant can comprise at least one aluminum salt. In the wet-felting process for manufacturing the ceiling tiles, a slurry comprising an aqueous dispersion of at least one fibrous material, at least one filler material, at least starch as a binder and a coagulant for the starch is delivered onto a foraminous wire frame. The slurry is dewatered to form a basemat and the basemat is dried to remove any residual moisture.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2012Publication date: April 4, 2013Applicant: USG Interiors, LLCInventor: USG Interiors, LLC

Patent number: 8397458Abstract: The invention provides a bracket and method of its use for adapting standard wall angle trim for use in sloped ceiling construction. The disclosed bracket arrangement can be used for the top edge or bottom edge of a sloped ceiling and be adjusted to match the angle of any practical ceiling slope. In disclosed embodiments, the bracket has the form of a rectangular flat steel sheet. The sheet has a hinge or bend line running lengthwise in its mid-area. The bend line is made by cutting the sheet intermittently along its length and thereby dividing the sheet into two sections. The cuts may be made, for example, by punching elongated slots along the bend line in a blank being formed into the bracket. Also punched into the bracket blank are a plurality of holes distributed lengthwise on marginal areas of the two sections of the blank.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2009Date of Patent: March 19, 2013Assignee: USG Interiors, LLCInventors: Lee M.
