Abstract: An illustrative example motor control device includes a printed circuit board including electronics for motor control. At least one connector is associated with the electronics. The connector is configured for communicating at least one of control signals or power to a motor. A housing includes a first portion configured to receive the printed circuit board and cover over a first side of the printed circuit board. A second portion of the housing is configured to provide access to the at least one connector from outside of the housing. The second portion of the housing inhibits exposure of the printed circuit board to outside contaminants. A third portion of the housing is configured to cover over a second side of the printed circuit board. At least one heat transfer element on at least one of the housing or the printed circuit board facilitates heat transfer from the printed circuit board to the housing.

Abstract: A system or method for tracking items proximate a user interface device include a user interface device having at least one solid-state touch-sensitive region and a receiver for wirelessly receiving a signal from at least one item to determine proximity of the item relative to the user interface device. The device may also include a display screen for displaying controls and information. The user interface device may be permanently or removably mounted in a vehicle and used to interface with vehicle systems and personal electronic devices for control and information display. Tracked items or objects may include passive or active data tags and communicate identification information and optionally position information to the user interface device. The device may alert the user to movement of tracked objects, and/or confirm presence of a group of objects intended for a particular task or project. The device may use various wired or wireless devices to control selections and/or a cursor on the display.

Abstract: A manhole security system includes a barrier and an alarm. The barrier fits within a manhole opening and under a manhole cover. The barrier is also formed to substantially close the manhole opening to block access to the manhole if the cover is removed, and includes a basin to collect fluids that may otherwise drain into the manhole. The alarm of the system is positioned on the barrier and includes a monitoring device operable to directly or indirectly monitor the position of the manhole cover and/or to detect a volatile gas in the manhole. Upon the removal of a manhole cover and /or upon the detection of a volatile gas within the manhole, the alarm emits an audible alert and/or transmit a signal to a remote station indicating that the manhole cover has been removed an/or the presence of a volatile gas in the manhole.
