Abstract: An improved life safety system provides ability to detect a catastrophic failure within a network node of the life safety system, and to subsequently pass a failsafe alarm signal through a network node, and through the life safety system, despite the catastrophic failure, which may be a failed main processor of a main panel, a failed main processor of a loop expander module, a failed main processor of an amplifier, or a failed main processor of a liquid crystal display controller.

Abstract: A method of producing an enhanced Active Appearance Model (AAM) by combining images of multiple resolutions is described herein. The method generally includes processing a plurality of images each having image landmarks and each image having an original resolution level. The images are down-sampled into multiple scales of reduced resolution levels. The AAM is trained for each image at each reduced resolution level, thereby creating a multi-resolution AAM. An enhancement technique is then used to refine the image landmarks for training the AAM at the original resolution level. The landmarks for training the AAM at each level of reduced resolution is obtained by scaling the landmarks used at the original resolution level by a ratio in accordance with the multiple scales.

Abstract: An access device is provided for a system that has a plurality of locks that are each configured to receive instructions and to energize a lock mechanism to unlock the lock and a computer that is disposed at a remote location from the locks and that is connected to a primary wireless communication path. The access device includes at least one key configured for communicating with the computer via the primary wireless communication path and to communicate with the locks over a secondary wireless path. Abstract: An iris imaging system is provided. The iris imaging system includes at least one light source configured to illuminate an iris at a spectrum of light. The iris imaging system also includes at least one image capturing device including at least one of an indium-gallium-arsenide, lead sulphide, and lead selenide based detector and configured to capture an image of the iris via light reflected from the iris at the spectrum.
