Patents Assigned to Utility Service Company
  • Patent number: 6335709
Abstract: A service tower integrates a water tank and an antenna mast into a single structure. The integrated tower structure has a bottom tank for holding water, a top member for mounting the antenna, and a middle transitional section that connects the larger diameter tanker to the smaller mast. A cable is port formed in the bottom end of the mast to receive communications cables from the exterior sidewall of the tank and deliver them to the interior sidewall of the mast. An antenna support is fastened to the mast above the cable port. A hollow support arm is fastened to the mast about an opening forming a passageway from the interior of the mast to the interior of the support arm. Cables are routed through the passageway to the antenna from inside the mast.

  • Patent number: 5263833
Abstract: A fish guiding assembly for use adjacent to dams and the like to channel fish into a safe passage includes an elongated buoyant frame including upper and lower elongated horizontally extending frame members, and a multiplicity of vertically extending louver slats of synthetic resin horizontally spaced apart and angularly oriented relative to the longitudinal axis of said frame. Upper and lower slat mounting members extend horizontally along the length of the frame and are supported thereby, and engage the slats adjacent their upper and lower ends to retain them in angular orientation. The upper ends of the louver slats are engaged to maintain them in the mounting members.

  • Patent number: 5032719
Abstract: A portable dosimeter calibration device has a shielded container with a cover, and providing a cavity in which dosimeters may be spaced about a central shielded compartment. An elongated carrier rod has a radiation source adjacent its lower end and extends outwardly of the cover. The end of the rod with the radiation source is normally seated in a shielded well of the compartment in a first position of the rod, and the rod may be secured in a second elevated position in which it is aligned with a radiation passage in the shielding of the compartment to expose the dosimeter to radiation.

  • Patent number: 4246234
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing nitric oxide in a gas with ammonia in the presence of a base metal catalyst pretreated with sulfur, selenium or a sulfur compound positioned in a reactor. The catalyst is deposited on a substrate or confined between gas-permeable walls and arranged to form open channels through which the nitric oxide-containing gas thereby effects low pressure drop through the reactor.

  • Patent number: 4127329
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring the concentration of micron size pollutants in a gas, such as sulphate aerosols in the ambient air. The gas is drawn through a dichotomous sampler which segregates the larger aerosols from the smaller ones. The smaller sized particles of aerosols are concentrated and then flowed through an inspection chamber having a plurality of optical windows. The sample is illuminated by the light beam from a laser, and a plurality of mirrors provide a light trap to redirect the laser radiation to the sample a large number of times. The Raman scattered radiation from the particles is collected by a mirror and by a lens onto a spectrograph which provides spectrally dispersed radiation according to the molecular constituents of the sample. This radiation is detected and converted to electrical signals providing qualitative and quantitative information as to the pollutant composition and concentration.

  • Patent number: 4122156
Abstract: A process for the recovery of carbon disulfide from a flue gas. A stream of sulfur dioxide is removed from a flue gas and introduced into a first reduction reactor containing a chromium promoted iron oxide catalyst where the sulfur dioxide is reduced to carbonyl sulfide. The carbonyl sulfide is introduced into a second reduction reactor which contains an active alumina catalyst. The carbonyl sulfide decomposes to carbon disulfide which is recovered.

  • Patent number: 4089930
Abstract: Base metal catalysts are pretreated with selenium, sulfur or sulfur compounds. Subsequently, a gaseous stream comprising nitric oxide, oxygen and ammonia is passed over the pretreated catalysts. The nitric oxide is reduced to nitrogen and no nitrous oxide is formed.

  • Patent number: 4054832
Abstract: Three-phase power equipment while still connected to the three-phase line has the insulation qualities of its various phases tested. All ground connections of said equipment except one are disconnected and that one is reconnected through ground current sensing means. Coupling units which may be capacitors are respectively connected between each of the three phases of the power line to which the power equipment is connected and ground. Each coupler unit is a reference phase current sensing means. Adjustable phase and magnitude adjustor means are used to couple the respective phase current sensing means to a summing means so that they are adding. The ground current sensing means is similarly coupled to the same summing means but opposed to phase current effects. A null detector coupled to the summing unit detects when balance occurs.
