    Abstract: The filter device is utilized for the separation of undissolved solid substances from liquids, in particular in the fields of waste water purification and water treatment. The filter device is arranged in a container as capable of rotation (2) and surrounded by the liquid to be filtered. The filter device (1) consists of several filter elements (6) with a space between one another, which are combined to form a rotating filter. The filtrate is drained away at the periphery of the filter elements (6). Solid substances are prevented from adhering to the filter elements (6) during the filtering process. The rotating filter comprises a hollow space in the center and an aeration device (8) is arranged in the hollow space, around which the filter device rotates. The filters are continuously cleaned by the mixture of air and liquid flowing through during the filtering process.

    Abstract: In a filter device and in a method for the periodic cleaning of a filter of a water treatment or sewage treatment plant, a rotating filter is arranged within its own separate filter chamber, the bottom of which is designed as following a contour of the rotating filter. The provision of an own separate filter chamber makes it possible for the rotating filter to be cleaned, without other parts of a filtering installation having to be taken out of operation, and without the rotating filter having to be dismantled and removed from the filter chamber. Therefore no lifting cranes or separate cleaning basins are necessary.

As a result unfiltered liquid flows through between the membrane plates and contamination of the permeate within a volume situated between the connecting elements is prevented. Over a number of connecting elements and zones located in between it is possible to attach a hollow profile, which is closed-off at its ends. This hollow profile in a liquid-tight manner surrounds discharge openings of the connecting elements and the zones located in between with positive material engagement.
