Abstract: A joint-use bracket (JUB) for use for installing multiple cables associated with communication lines onto a joint-use section of a utility pole is disclosed. The JUB comprises: a curved plate having a generally rectangular shape elongated in a longitudinal direction and curved along a lateral direction, the curved plate formed to have multiple attachment holes therethrough and have multiple slots laterally formed on the front surface; multiple platforms, each platform contiguously formed on the front surface of the curved plate and having multiple receiving holes; multiple blocks configured to engage with the platforms, respectively, each block having multiple joining holes; and multiple joining fasteners configured to be inserted through the joining holes and the receiving holes, to fasten the block to the platform to clamp the cable that is placed laterally between the block and the platform, thereby to hold the cable securely.

Abstract: Disclosed is a step assembly for use in climbing a utility structure. The step assembly comprises a rod member and a plate member. The rod member comprises a generally L-shaped rod, a shoulder formed contiguously to the generally L-shaped rod, and an arm pivotably coupled to the shoulder by a pin. The plate member comprises a duct having a longitudinally formed internal passage, and a support plate attached at one end portion of the duct and formed transversally to the duct, wherein the internal passage of the duct contiguously provides an opening in the support plate at the one end portion. The aligned shoulder and arm are configured to pass through the internal passage.

Abstract: A torque-limiting nut and a method of securing a bolted joint by using the same are disclosed. The nut comprises a head having a first hex external side surface and a first internal side surface that is cylindrical and unthreaded, a body formed to have a generally flange shape having a second hex external side surface and a second internal side surface that is cylindrical and threaded, and a plurality of posts, each post contiguously connecting the head and the body. The shapes and dimensions of the parts, including the shape and dimensions of each post, the number of the posts, etc., are determined to have the plurality of posts sheared off from the body when a torque applied to the first hex external side surface exceeds a predetermined amount.

Abstract: Disclosed is a step assembly with fall arrest capability for use in climbing a utility structure, including a removable step unit. The step assembly comprises the step unit including two leg members, a leg holder including two cylinders, and an expansion anchor including multiple fins. The combination of the leg holder and the expansion anchor is configured to be secured with the utility structure based on bending the fins at the shoulder sections to have the fins opened inside the utility structure while the leg holder is in contact with and outside the utility structure. The step unit can be detachably attached to the secured combination by inserting the two leg members through the two cylinders of the leg holder, respectively.
