  • Patent number: 7766044
Abstract: A two-way damper is provided including a retaining member and a baffle. The baffle comprises a flexible member with a first portion secured and held in a fixed position by the retaining member and a second portion normally oriented in a first position, but free to move relative to said first position. The baffle also comprises a third portion, arranged between the first and second portions, being flexible and resilient and allowing the second portion to move to a second position relative to the first position upon the application of a pressure differential across the baffle above a threshold pressure and causing the second portion to return to the first position upon the application of a pressure differential across the baffle below the threshold pressure.

  • Patent number: 7681864
Abstract: A valve actuator including a body, a rotatable drive screw having an external thread over at least a portion of its length and extending through the body and projecting out at least one side of the body. An internally threaded member is captured on the drive screw on the interior of the body, the member being held against rotation during rotation of the drive screw, so as to cause the member to travel along a length of the drive screw as the drive screw is rotated in both a first and second rotational direction. At least one sleeve having an abutment surface engagable by the member upon a sufficient rotation of the drive screw in one of the two directions. The sleeve surrounds the drive screw and may be axially adjustable relative to the drive screw from the exterior of the body.

  • Patent number: 6871664
Abstract: A flange is provided for a valve which extends in a radial direction outwardly from the valve and has a peripheral edge. The peripheral edge is comprised of a series of outer surfaces positioned at or beyond a first radial distance from a center point of the valve, and may be in the form of tabs, and an alternating series of inner surfaces positioned at or within a second radial distance from the valve or flange center point, as intervening portions. At least one of the outer surfaces and inner surfaces may be sized and arranged to supportingly engage a plurality of series of connecting bolts which extend perpendicular to the radial direction, wherein the plurality of series of connecting bolts are arranged on bolt circles of different diameters relative to the valve.

  • Patent number: 6244567
Abstract: A retaining ring for a resilient valve seat carried on a movable valve member is provided in a plurality of segments which may be cast in an investment casting method. The ring segments may be identical in shape and may overlap one another, with threaded fasteners securing the ring segments to the valve member. Concentric grooves may be provided on a face of the ring segments which engage the resilient valve seat to prevent its movement or displacement relative to the valve member.

  • Patent number: 6168161
Abstract: A shaft seal having spacers positioned between the packing follower and the body of a valve. The spacers are flat, hard members of a certain thickness which allow maximum tightening of the packing fasteners and determine the maximum pressure the packing follower exerts on the packing material. The spacers have a slot for accommodating the fasteners and a tab that can easily be grasped with a tool, such as pliers. A stack of spacers can be positioned between the packing follower and valve body and then sequentially removed to provide incremental tightening of the fasteners for maintaining pressure on the packing materials by the packing gland. The spacers may include integral locking tabs.

  • Patent number: 6152173
Abstract: A device for visually indicating a position of a check valve disc within the check valve is provided. The indicating device has an exposed element extending outside of the valve body to provide a visual indication of a position of the valve disc, an engaging element, connected to the exposed element, positioned within the valve body to engage the valve disc, a movable seal member to provide an interface between an interior of the valve body and an exterior of the valve body, with the engaging element and the exposed element being connected to the seal member, and a mechanism to hold the engaging element in contact with the valve disc. An electrical switch may be provided for detecting the position of the exposed element and for transmitting an appropriate signal.

  • Patent number: 6050294
Abstract: A resilient disc check valve with a spring return mechanism is provided. The spring return mechanism is contained entirely within the valve body. The spring return mechanism is in the form of a leaf spring or similar structure which engages a back side of the disc and does not require any attachment to the disc by way of fasteners or other mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 5769429
Abstract: An improved seat for air valves and combination air release and air valves is provided. The improved seal for an air valve has a resilient member with a top surface and a bottom surface and a through hole therebetween; a circular raised bead positioned on the top surface having a diameter larger than that of the through hole and a circumferential slot arranged in the through hole; and having a diameter larger than that of the through hole so that a lip is formed between the bottom surface and the circumferential slot. In addition, a seal for an air valve having a resilient member with a top surface and a bottom surface and a through hole therebetween; a circular raised bead positioned on the bottom surface, the circular raised bead having a diameter larger than that of the through hole; and a notch circumscribing the through hole and having a diameter larger than that of the through hole so that contact surface is formed between the notch and the through holes is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5765595
Abstract: An air/vacuum valve throttling device capable of use with an air/vacuum valve in a piping installation is provided. The throttling device has a body with an interior and a number of ports. A vent/admit port connectable to the air/vacuum valve is provided. An outlet port and an air inlet port are also located in the body. A shaft extends from outside the body into the interior and has a plug connected to an end of the shaft so that the plug is located within the interior of the body. The shaft and plug are constructed and arranged to extend into the outlet port. The plug position is adjustable. A rod is also provided having a plug at one end extending into the interior and a retainer at another end outside the interior. A bushing in the air inlet port having an opening to allow the rod to pass therethrough, and a spring is used for resiliently centering the rod in the air inlet port.

  • Patent number: 5261449
Abstract: A quick change coupling arrangement for holding an actuator shaft of a hydraulic dampening unit to a valve shaft of a swing check valve. The coupling arrangement provides knob portions arranged on opposing free ends of the valve shaft and the actuator shaft, which are captured in sandwich fashion between two semi-circular cylindrical shell connectors. An outer sleeve is provided which can be temporarily displaced upward on the actuator shaft during assembly of the shell sections over the knob portions and then slid downward to cover the shell sections and hold the shell connectors together preventing radial departure from the knob portions. A set screw is provided to hold the sleeve in axial fixation with one of the shell connectors.
