  • Patent number: 9623369
Abstract: A hollow fiber fluid separation device includes a hollow fiber cartridge, comprising a plurality of hollow fiber membranes arranged around a central tubular core, a first tubesheet and a second tubesheet encapsulating respective distal ends of the hollow fiber bundle. The tubesheets have boreholes in fluid communication with bores of the hollow fiber membrane. In at least one of the tubesheets, the boreholes are formed radially and are in communication with the central tubular core. The hollow fiber fluid separation device can be utilized in liquid separation applications such as ultrafiltration and in gas separation processes such as air separation. The design disclosed herein is light weight and compact and is particularly advantageous at high operating temperatures when the pressure of the feed fluid introduced into the bores of hollow fibers is higher than the pressure on the shell side of the device.

  • Patent number: 7077158
Abstract: A valve assembly includes a valve body configured to define a chamber forming a primary flowpath between an inlet port and a discharge port, an isolator disposed inside said chamber, and a poppet having a bore. The isolator is defined by a skirt and a stem, with the stem coupled to the valve body, and the skirt affixed to the stem. The poppet is disposed inside the chamber, and the bore is slidably received over the skirt. The isolator is configured to guide the poppet relative to the valve body, and the skirt is configured to shield the bore and isolate the poppet from substantially all of a dynamic pressure component of pressurized fluid when pressurized fluid flows from the inlet port past a portion of the poppet and then through the discharge port of the valve assembly.

  • Patent number: 5529387
Abstract: A solenoid actuated valve of an in-line construction having an inlet and outlet between which are located the valve's operating components including a piston with a hollow head which engages a seat for sealing the valve's main flow path. The piston head has a discharging orifice which is sealed by the pilot pin of a solenoid operated popper and a charging orifice through which high pressure fluid from the valve inlet is supplied. The poppet has flow passages downstream of the piston seat which communicate with the valve outlet.

  • Patent number: 4624441
Abstract: A pilot-operated valve suitable for pontoon inflation arrangements contains a main valve poppet urged against a valve seat connecting the inlet and outlet ports of the valve. A portion of the inlet pressure urges a piston carrying the valve poppet away from the valve seat, but this is resisted by a portion of the inlet pressure acting in a pressure volume on the opposite side of the piston. By way of an electrical signal, a manual operation or pneumatic pressure, a pilot valve is opened so as to relieve the pressure on the main valve poppet tending to close it. This allows the valve to open and fluid to pass through the valve assembly. Once the pilot valve has opened pressure from the inlet is applied within the pilot valve to hold it in the open position until the inlet pressure has been substantially reduced. Operation of the pilot valve also allows inlet pressure to be applied to a crossover connection of the valve.

  • Patent number: 4561468
Abstract: A valve is formed with a valve chamber and with an entrance port, a first exit port and a relief exit port each of which communicates with the chamber. A valve member is movably mounted within the chamber, and a pair of valve seats is mounted within the chamber for cooperation with the valve member, one of the seats being movable. The valve member and movable seat are biased in such a manner that the valve is normally seated with respect to both seats. When fluid in the entrance port exceeds a certain crack pressure, the movable seat moves away from the valve member and the fluid flows out the relief exit port. To stop flow out the relief exit port without creating a pressure surge, the valve member, actuated by a control, seats against the movable seat and at the same time moves away from the other seat so that the fluid continues to circulate through the first-named exit port.

  • Patent number: 4004258
Abstract: A position indicating pulse latching solenoid has a plunger of paramagnetic steel, movable between two stops of similar material, and fixed permanent magnets which impart a flux to the plunger causing it to adhere to the stop to which it is moved, movement being accomplished by a respective winding about each stop which when excited by an electrical pulse momentarily exerts an attractive force on the plunger. A reed switch senses the momentary flux generated by the excited winding at a leakage gap near one of the stops and also determines whether the flux imparted to the plunger by the permanent magnets has shifted with the plunger to or away from the gap to indicate plunger position.

  • Patent number: 3969923
Abstract: A detector for sensing and signalling leakage in a closed fluid system, the detector having inlet and outlet passages connected by parallel main and secondary channels. The main channel is provided with normally closed sealing means to prevent communication between the inlet and outlet passages, and the secondary channel is provided with an element that moves in response to a pressure differential across the secondary channel. The main channel sealing means opens in response to a threshold differential pressure between the inlet and outlet passages, the threshold for the main channel being high to allow flow only when fluid is intentionally passed through the detector. The threshold for the secondary channel is low to permit movement upon pressure differentials caused by leaks, the secondary channel movable means having magnetic flux associated with it to actuate reed switch when this means is moved by a pressure differential across the secondary channel.
