Abstract: A device, particularly for the instrument panel of a motor vehicle, comprises a liquid crystal display module comprising a multiplicity of parallel inputs connected via a multiplicity of control lines to a multiplicity of outputs of a control module supplied by an electrical power supply. The output of the display module and the electrical power supply are connected to an electrical ground. Abstract: A method for detecting vibrations generated by the running of a tire on a safety insert, wherein a vibration signal is measured within a given frequency band and the measurement thus made is processed to detect a mode of resonance generated by this running. The energy of the signal measured by a sensor in two frequency bands, one being narrow and the other being wide, which are centered on the same line of the mode of resonance, is determined. The ratio of these two energies is compared with a given warning threshold.
Abstract: A motor vehicle heating, ventilating and/or air conditioning installation has a control panel comprising a light box which consists of a housing comprising a housing member with an open side closed by a front wall of the control panel, and a light source within the housing. The front wall is of translucent material made opaque on its front face except in lighting zones which define illuminated indicia. Some of the lighting zones have a first thickness, while others are of different thicknesses, so that the luminance of the lighting zones at the front face of the front wall is modified locally. In this way, imperfections in the light box arising from differences in luminance in the illuminated indicia can be compensated for.
Abstract: A motor vehicle air conditioning installation has a cold loop, a hot loop, a sensor for measuring cabin temperature, a manual setting unit for setting demand values of cabin air parameters, and a control unit for defining the resulting required adjustments to be made to the various components of the cold and hot loops. The control unit includes a temperature estimating module which generates an estimated value of the outside temperature, either from (a) the measured value of cabin temperature (in stabilized operation of the installation), or (b) a temperature value stored in a sub-memory of the control unit (when the installation is converging towards its stabilized mode).
Abstract: In accordance with the method, the received signal is quadrature demodulated by mixing it with two signals with a relative phase difference of .pi./2 and having the same frequency as the emitted carrier, the absolute value of each of the demodulated signals of each pair of signals obtained is compared to a respective threshold to determine valid pairs if the absolute value of at least one of the two demodulated signals is higher than the threshold and invalid pairs otherwise and the number of successive rotations of the vector whose coordinates correspond to the values of the signals of the successive valid pairs is counted. For each invalid pair the value of the count is progressively reduced. The alarm is tripped if the value of the count reaches a given threshold.
Abstract: In an electric motor which includes an electronic control device and an armature within a closed motor casing, the electronic control device is arranged within the casing, in a position offset axially from but close to the armature. The motor includes a thermal screen which is interposed axially between the armature and the control device, and the screen includes means for dissipating heat outside the casing.
Abstract: A self-propelled vehicle alternator used both as a generator and as an electric motor for starting the engine of the vehicle. A coil-carrying rotor and a multiphase stator connected to a bridge of diodes and switches for rectifying and controlling the phases cooperate for selective operation as a generator or starting motor. A control unit for the switches recognizes a code signal transmitted by a code transmitter and controls the phases of the stator to cause the alternator to operate as an electric motor and start the engine only if it receives a code signal from the transmitter authorizing starting.
Abstract: A motor vehicle power steering system includes a hydraulic pump, an electric motor for driving the pump, and a control unit for controlling the electric motor. The control unit includes means for controlling the power supply voltage applied to the electric motor so that said voltage increases up to a maximum value when the load impedance decreases from its unloaded value, and is at a low value when said load impedance is in the vicinity of its unloaded value.
Abstract: A three-phase synchronous electric motor, especially a motor of a motorized fan unit for a motor vehicle, includes a synchronizing device in which the energizing signal for the three phases of the motor is synchronized with the rotational position of the rotor. The energizing signals are synchronized with a single position signal representing the rotational position of the rotor, and, in order to start the motor, its three phases are supplied with three energizing signals out of phase one with another by 2.pi./3; if the motor then fails to start, the energizing signals are phase shifted by 2.pi./3.
Abstract: The invention concerns a rotary contactor comprising a fixed casing which houses a movable hub and a flexible strip attached at one end to the hub and at its other end to the casing. An internal rotor is disposed radially between the hub and the internal bore of the casing. A planetary gear train supported by the casing, the internal rotor and the hub is provided for rotating the internal rotor via the hub. The internal rotor comprises means for the passage of the flexible strip. The invention is useful for motor vehicles.
Abstract: The power supply to a starter of a motor vehicle engine is cut off when the power supply voltage to the starter reaches a threshold value. On closing of the starter power contacter, a time window is commenced, and during this time window the maximum value assumed by the supply voltage is measured. The threshold value is determined as a function of the maximum value measured during this time window, and may also be a function of the value of the supply voltage prior to initiation of the starting process, and/or a function of operating temperature.
