Abstract: A screen wiping apparatus comprises a crank which is coupled through a pivot pin to a crank arm, which may for example be part of a screen wiper arm, the pivot pin providing an articulation between the arm and the crank whereby to provide non-circular wiping. The pivot pin has a head joined by a first cylindrical portion to a second cylindrical portion of smaller diameter than the first, the head and the two cylindrical portions being coaxial with each other. The first cylindrical portion of the pivot pin passes through a sleeve fitted transversely in the crank, while the second cylindrical portion extends through the crank arm. At least one ring carried by the crank is immobilised against rotation with respect to the crank.

Abstract: The invention relates to a brush holder plate for an electric current commutating motor. The brush holder plate comprises axial projections which guide and orientate the brush holder plate during its introduction into the casing by cooperation with stops on the casing. Spiral return springs for the brushes are identical and are located in different planes to exert appropriate thrust on the respective brushes.

Abstract: A starter head for the starter of an internal combustion engine includes a motor shaft, on which a starter pinion is mounted for axial sliding movement. A free wheel and a driving sleeve are secured on the starter pinion by means of a securing shroud. The starter pinion has a bore over the whole of its length, with the motor shaft being displaceable within this bore. The starter has a device for limiting the axial throw of the starter head. The throw limiting device comprises a stop ring cooperating with a further ring fixed on the free end of the engine shaft within the bore of the pinion. The stop ring is fitted in a semicylindrical groove formed in the bore.

Abstract: A windshield wiper assembly comprises a drive mechanism for at least one windshield wiper arm, together with a reservoir for a windshield washing liquid. The drive mechanism comprises a support structure, on which are mounted a motor and a linkage for transmission of motion between a spindle driven by the motor and at least one windshield wiper arm. The support structure is arranged to be secured on to the body of a vehicle, in particular an automotive vehicle. Pumping means are provided to project washing liquid from the reservoir on to the glass being wiped. The reservoir is so designed as to be accommodated substantially within the space envelope defined by the drive mechanism, and it is rigidly secured to the support structure of this mechanism so as to form an assembly therewith.

Abstract: A windshield wiper apparatus having a facility for retraction of the wiper blade, including a cranked driving arm which carries a pivot pin on which an eccentric knuckle piece is rotatably mounted. A driven crank is articulated on the knuckle piece and the latter is provided with a ratchet which includes a finger and radial arm.The knuckle piece is in two parts, comprising a member which carries the ratchet and a second member which is formed with a recess for receiving the radial arm of the ratchet.The invention is especially applicable to automotive vehicles.

Abstract: A generally U-shaped connector, having two branches, for fastening together a windshield wiper arm and a windshield wiper blade, has a latching means cooperating with a recess formed in the wiper arm. The connector also includes gripping means for unlocking the arm from the blade. At least one of the branches of the connector body includes at least two resiliently deformable tongues, which are separated from each other by gaps. One of these tongues carries the latching means, while the other tongues, working as a pair, carry the gripping means.

Abstract: The invention is concerned with systems for deploying and parking retractable members such as headlamps or windshield wipers of automotive vehicles. In order to reduce the reaction time when a command is given that countermands a command which is in course of execution, elements are provided for detecting the current state of the system using end stop detectors. The operating program for the system, which controls the parking and deployment functions, is directed towards a parking step or a deployment step, in such a way that the motor currently in operation is immediately reversed (optionally after being braked), when a command is received which reverses the command currently being executed, whether or not the moveable element controlled by the motor has reached the end of its travel.

Abstract: A connector for fastening a windshield wiper arm and a windshield wiper blade together has a generally U-shaped longitudinal cross section, with longitudinal edge portions extended in side walls of the connector body, the side walls being joined together through a transverse wall so as to define a free space between them. A hood is articulated on to the transverse wall.

Abstract: A blade carrying assembly for a windshield wiper for an automotive vehicle includes a wiper arm pivoted on a coupling head, with a spring biassing the wiper arm towards the coupling head. A rotatable lock is provided on the wiper arm for limiting the pivoting movement of the arm with respect to the couping head when the lock is in a locking position.

Abstract: A windshield or screen wiper assembly includes a first arm which is rotatably mounted about a first fixed axis and a second arm which is mounted rotatably about a second fixed axis, substantially parallel to the first axis but offset with respect thereto. The two arms are substantially parallel to each other and their ends furthest from the axes of rotation are connected together by means of a link which is pivoted on each of these ends of the arms, while a wiper blade is connected to this link. One of arms is a driving arm while the other arm is freely mounted for rotation about its axis and is driven by the link from the driving arm. The effective lengths of the two arms between their pivots with the link and their axes of rotation are different. The assembly includes a second wiper blade the length of which is much smaller than that of the first blade, the second blade being situated closer to the axes of rotation.
