Abstract: A heating or air conditioning apparatus for a motor vehicle includes a casing which is mounted on the bodywork of the vehicle by a mounting means comprising a mounting foot carried by the casing and fitting in a U-shaped support member which is carried by the bodywork of the vehicle. The mounting foot is a hollow profiled element which includes a flat rigid wall defining a reference face and joined to a deformable curved wall of the mounting foot which is concave towards the flat wall, both walls being engaged against respective opposed faces of the support member. The mounting foot is integral with a shoe portion which is attached to the casing by slide elements of the former gripping two rails of the casing.
Abstract: A fluid flow control device comprises a duct having an inlet aperture and an obturating member, which is mounted in the duct and movable by an actuating member between a first position in which it closes the duct and a second position in which the duct is fully open. The control device comprises a flexible membrane which is fixed around its periphery to the annular wall of the duct. The membrane is arranged to adopt a closing position in which its central region closes off the inlet aperture within the duct, and an open position in which its central region is spaced away from the inlet opening so that the fluid can pass through the latter and through further apertures formed in an annular region of the membrane which join its central region to its periphery.
Abstract: A fluid flow control device comprises a duct having a masking membrane arranged within the duct for movement between a first position, in which it closes the duct, and a second position in which it allows fluid to pass through the duct. The masking member is in the form of a deformable membrane disposed across the duct, the membrane having two portions having bellows-type folds and opposed end elements defining between them a flow aperture, which can be opened or closed to adjust the fluid flow.
Abstract: An air filter apparatus, in particular for a heating and/or air conditioning installation for a motor vehicle, is of the kind comprising a housing through which an air stream can pass, with at least one filter member pivotally mounted within the housing for movement between a working position and retracted position. The filter member comprises a first end which is pivotally mounted about a first axis extending at right angles to the direction of flow of the air stream, and a second end disposed around a second pivot axis which is parallel to the first pivot axis. In the retracted position, a valve flap member overlies the filter member so as to prevent impurities carried by the filter member from becoming drawn into the air stream.
Abstract: The invention relates to heating and/or air conditioning apparatus for the cabin of a motor vehicle, of a kind in which two separate fans deliver air into a common housing through which the air is passed to a heat exchanger. The object of the invention is to obtain even distribution of the air delivered through the heat exchanger, despite any differences in the flow rates of air delivered by one fan as compared with the other. The apparatus includes a housing having two inlet sections which are arranged facing each other and which are connected to the two respective fans for introducing the two air streams into the housing in parallel and opposed inlet directions. These directions are parallel to a base wall of the housing, and this base wall is provided with a separating bulkhead which projects from it into the interior of the housing.
Abstract: A heating and/or air conditioning installation for a motor vehicle is of the kind having two air blower units, each supplied with air through a respective air admission housing, and each having a volute casing arranged to deliver air into a common distribution housing. The air blower unit comprises a connection member having an input edge which is adapted to be fitted to the outlet aperture of the air admission housing in either one of two different positions; and a casing having a lateral wall defining a volute chamber within the casing. The latter also has a delivery or outlet orifice, and two opposed abutment surfaces, either of which can be fitted to an output edge of the connection member, so as to give two different mounting positions.
Abstract: The air blower unit includes a casing having a lower wall, and upper wall and two opposed side walls, which together define two open and opposed end faces of the same profile. The casing also includes a mounting frame, together with an air blower which is mounted within the casing and which comprises a blower rotor, a drive motor for the blower rotor, and two symmetrical half shells which are mated together to define a volute chamber in which the blower rotor and the motor are mounted. This unit is readily adaptable to two different configurations, according to whether the vehicle in which it is to be installed is of the left hand drive or right hand drive type.
Abstract: This apparatus includes a housing defining within it a first conduit having at least one internal bulkhead extending partially within a distribution chamber and at right angles to the pivot axis of a distribution valve so as to define at least two adjacent air outlets. The housing also defines within it a second conduit having a further air outlet. The distribution valve comprises vanes which are offset axially and circumferentially from each other, for selectively controlling the distribution of air through the outlets of the first conduit, together with a vane for controlling the distribution of air through the outlet of the second conduit.
