Abstract: A windshield wiper drive mechanism comprises a casing housing a motor and a reciprocating mechanism for converting the rotary motion of the motor to a reciprocating motion of an output shaft. Damping mechanism are provided for damping the rotation of the shaft comprising a cam and a resilient element for applying a radial damping force to the shaft at least towards the limits of its reciprocal movement. The resilient element can act directly on the cam or alternatively it may be part of the cam itself.
