  • Patent number: 7059009
Abstract: This invention relates to windshield wiper system and method which utilizes a flexible member to account for compression loads in excess of a predetermined load, such as 30 percent greater than a maximum load for the flexible member. The system utilizes a flexible pultruded composite material having a relatively low modulus of elasticity, yet relatively high elongation characteristics. The flexible arm bends to facilitate preventing damage to components in the wiper system when a compressive load applied to the flexible member reaches a predetermined load as a result of a fatigue condition, such as snow or ice build up on the windshield. In one embodiment, the predetermined load is defined as: PCR=KE=1.

  • Patent number: 7040473
Abstract: The invention relates to an electromagnetic friction clutch for arrangement within a drive train connecting a drive motor and a vehicle door. The vehicle door is reliably held in any intermediate position when a clutch is disconnected. To preserve the ability to carry out a manual emergency actuation of the vehicle door, a compression spring is provided acting upon an armature disk of the clutch in the axial direction in such a way that, with the clutch in the disconnected state, the armature disk is pressed against the frictional lining of a rotor part with a force which is sufficient to ensure that the vehicle door remains reliably in position. During a subsequent manual actuation of the vehicle door, the frictional connection between armature disk and frictional lining can be overcome.

  • Patent number: 7038608
Abstract: A digital to analog converter includes a digital processor having an input port adapted to receive an input signal and an output port coupled to an input port of an analog filter wherein the digital processor includes a digital feedback loop which compares a reference digital voltage with a digital voltage provided by a digital model of the analog filter. Using a completely digital feedback loop which compares an input digital voltage with the digital voltage from the digital model of the analog filter results in a single bit digital to analog converter having improved accuracy for a given clock rate and filter. The next digital state of the converter (i.e. ‘0’ or ‘1’) is selected based upon a comparison of the input (or reference) voltage with the digital voltage provided by the digital feedback loop. The digital converter output is then fed to the analog filter. If the analog filter matches the digital model, then the analog voltage will match the digital voltage, and therefore the reference voltage.

  • Patent number: 7034421
Abstract: The invention is a driving device mainly for the windshield wiper assembly of a motor vehicle, which has a housing, an electric motor located in a housing with a pivoted armature, a gear unit located in the housing with a worm shaft located on a section of the armature and an axial force generating device to compensate for the axial free play of the armature. In order to create a driving device of the simplest possible construction in which the axial force generating device does not have to absorb all of the axial forces from the armature and which nevertheless can properly compensate for the axial free play of the armature, one end of the armature is supported by a support bearing at the housing and that the axial force generating device has a tapered sliding member which rides movably in the housing in a radial direction relative to the armature and is supported at the armature so that an axial force running in the direction of the support bearing can be applied to the armature by moving the tapered slide.
