Abstract: A catheter device and method for treating an artery with thrombus, the catheter comprising an inflatable member. A carrier catheter has a proximal end and a distal end adapted to be inserted percutaneously into an artery, the carrier catheter having a tubular body adjacent to a rear end of the inflatable member. An inflating tube passes through the tubular body and having an open front end in fluid communication with the inflatable member to inflate same. An infusion tube is adapted to infuse pharmacologic agents, the infusion tube passing through the tubular body and having an open front end extending beyond the inflatable member. An aspiration tube is adapted to aspire the thrombus, the aspiration tube passing through the tubular body and having an open front end between the carrier catheter and the inflatable member.

Abstract: An orthopaedic fixation component attachable to a femur, said femur defining a femur shaft, a femur head and a femur neck extending therebetween, said femur further defining a greater trochanter limiting laterally said femur neck, said orthopaedic fixation component comprising: a shaft section fixation portion and an end section fixation portion extending substantially longitudinally therefrom, said shaft section and end section fixation portions being respectively securable to said femur shaft and said greater trochanter; said end section fixation portion including a pair of end arms, said end arms being configured, sized and positioned to delimit a trochanter receiving recess for substantially fittingly receiving a prominent portion of said greater trochanter.

Abstract: The present invention relates to neurokinin-1 (NK-1) receptor antagonists in combination with an inhibitor of metachromatic cell activation, such as an anti-inflammatory agent, an immunosuppressor, or a kinase inhibitor, and use of such combinations in the treatment of disorders associated with activation of metachromatic cells. Disorders associated with the activation of metachromatic cells include allergic/non-allergic rhinitis, allergic/non-allergic asthma, allergic/non-allergic urticaria, immuno-inflammatory disorders, metachromatic cell-related autoimmune disorders, transplant rejection, and other metachromatic cell-related disorders.
