Abstract: A hard disk protection device comprising a decoding circuit which receives signals from the address and data buses of a personal computer to decode the signals associated with hard disk write actions and generating a signal to suppress the signal of IOW line so as to disable the write function of the hard disk. A switch is provided for a user to disconnect the decoding circuit from the hard disk so as to allow the hard disk to be operated as a conventional hard disk.
