Patent number: 6233995Abstract: A forming tool for creating a profile in a workpiece held within a bending brake is provided. The forming tool includes a body, and a carriage attached to the body and operable to move longitudinally along a guide provided on the bending brake. A pair of opposed forming dies is rotatably and removably mounted on the body, wherein the forming dies are operable to create a profile, such as for brick mold or a fascia rib, in the workpiece as the workpiece passes between the forming dies. The forming dies are interchangeable with another pair of forming dies for creating a different profile in the workpiece. The forming tool of the present invention is intended for use with any type of bending brake.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 1999Date of Patent: May 22, 2001Assignee: Van Mark Products CorporationInventors: Jeffrey Van Cleave, Eugene G. Patent number: 6000268Abstract: A multifunction machine for modifying a workpiece held in a bending brake is provided that allows one tool to be easily interchanged with another tool. The machine includes a carriage operable to move longitudinally along the bending brake, and a tool detachably connected to the carriage and operable to modify the workpiece. The tool can be detached from the carriage and interchanged with another tool for performing a different modification to the workpiece. In a preferred embodiment, either the tool or the carriage includes a projection extending therefrom, and the other includes an opening sized to receive the projection in order to connect the tool and the carriage. The tool preferably includes rotatably mounted rolls that may be used for cutting or forming the workpiece. The multifunction machine is intended to be used in conjunction with any type of bending brake.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1998Date of Patent: December 14, 1999Assignee: Van Mark Products CorporationInventors: Jeffrey Van Cleave, Eugene G. Patent number: 4566304Abstract: A portable sheet metal bending brake of enhanced clamping and bending capacity and wherein a cam-actuated clamping structure is provided. The brake includes a plurality of upstanding structural castings which are partially bifurcated to pivotally support upper clamping arms cooperable with lower, casting-mounted workpiece support and bending elements. The bifurcated castings also provide support for a cam shaft on which individual cams are fixed for clamping contact with the clamping arms. The cam clamping force exertible on each arm cam be individually adjusted through a slide plate mounted on the arm and movable to vary the precise cam-arm contact point. Thus, the brake can be assembled completely and the cam plates individually adjusted to ensure uniform clamping of the workpiece along the entire length of the brake.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1983Date of Patent: January 28, 1986Assignee: Van Mark Products CorporationInventors: Van Cleave, Eugene H., Douglas G. Patent number: 4389869Abstract: A sheet material bending brake of enhanced clamping and bending capacity, by virtue of reinforcing members which both limit the extent of insertion of sheet material into the brake and which support the brake against distortion under heavy clamping and bending loads. The brake includes a plurality of parallel "C" castings extending normally to a bending plane, the castings having clamping and bending means located at their cantilevered ends. Adjustable reinforcing elements engage horizontal surfaces of the castings and project across the throats of the castings to retain the casting legs against separation under excess clamping and bending loads imposed thereon and to limit the distance to which the sheet material can be inserted into the castings.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1980Date of Patent: June 28, 1983Assignee: Van Mark Products CorporationInventor: Eugene H. Patent number: 4291845Abstract: A holding device or "cradle" for holding a coil of sheet material so that the material can be unrolled from the coil and cut to length. The cradle takes the form of an open-topped tray having side walls and an end wall, the side walls supporting two horizontally disposed rollers upon which the coil is super-imposed. A third roller projects through the annular coil and is spring biased into contact with the interior of the coil to retain the coil in position. The unrolled sheet material is guided by the curved bottom onto a scoring or cutting bed which has spaced, parallel non-marring surfaces which are raised above the surface of the bed to define a cutting space therebetween. An upper score guide is moveable away from the scoring bed to accommodate the entry of sheet material therebetween and is moveable downwardly into contact with the sheet material to clamp the sheet material in position for cutting and to provide an elongated cutting edge which is aligned with the space between the non-marring surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1980Date of Patent: September 29, 1981Assignee: Van Mark Products CorporationInventor: Eugene H.
