Patents Assigned to Vancouver Island Helicopters Ltd.
  • Patent number: 5779296
Abstract: An apparatus secures at least two patient supports within a vehicle during transport, particularly adaptable within helicopters. Patient supports are secured to trays that are removably, telescopically connected to bases on a floor of a vehicle. The trays are telescopically, longitudinally, extended relative to the bases. Also, the trays are pivotally attached to a base for pivotal movement about an axis perpendicular to the floor, which includes an electric jack for moving the trays towards and away from the floor.

  • Patent number: 5497968
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for securing medical equipment within an interior of an emergency vehicle, the apparatus including an elongated suspension bar (23) positioned within the emergency vehicle relative to a substantially planar surface (27) (25), and an equipment fastener (53) (110) for attaching thereto medical equipment (51). The equipment fastener (53) (110) for securing the medical equipment (51) to the elongated suspension bar (23) is preferably slidable along the longitudinal length of the elongated suspension bar (23). The equipment fastener (53) (110) includes a base block (77) (116) and a slider pinch block (79) (127), wherein the slider pinch block (79) (127) can be moved toward and away from the base block (77) (116) thereby releasing and securing the equipment fastener (53) (110) to the elongated suspension bar (23).

  • Patent number: 5490703
Abstract: A system for transferring patients to and from emergency medical vehicles and for securing the patients within the vehicles during transport is particularly adapted for helicopters, with at least two stations within the helicopter for securing two patients therein. The system accommodates standard stretchers or patient litters, including a first litter positioned in the first station in the rear of the aircraft approximately aligned with but above and behind the second patient station. In order to load the patients into the separate stations, interlockable trays and support plates are used. An upper tray is initially telescoped within a lower tray which, in turn, is supported on a carriage and lift assembly. The lower tray can be swung relative to the lift assembly to an oblique position pointed toward the exterior door of the helicopter. In addition, the lower tray, with the upper tray supported thereon, can be raised so that the upper tray can be slid rearward into the second station.
