Patents Assigned to Vanoil Equipment Inc.
  • Patent number: 6877712
Abstract: A blowout preventer which has ram chambers with an upper sealing surface and a lower sealing surface. Upper sealing elements, lower sealing elements and intermediate sealing elements are mounted to the sealing face of each of the rams. The upper sealing elements engage the upper sealing surface. The lower sealing elements engage the lower sealing surface. The intermediate sealing elements are positioned between the upper sealing elements and the lower sealing elements. When the rams are in the sealing position and pressure is exerted from below the rams, sealing engagement between the intermediate sealing elements, the upper sealing elements and the upper sealing surface contain such pressure from below. When the rams are in the sealing position and pressure is exerted from above the rams, sealing engagement between the intermediate sealing elements, the lower sealing elements and the lower sealing surface contains such pressure from above.

  • Patent number: 6439302
Abstract: A stripper packer includes a main body having a first end and a second end. A passage extends through the main body from the first end to the second end, thereby facilitating the passage of coiled tubing through the main body when the coiled tubing is being stripped in and out of a well bore. A primary sealing element encircles the passage. A secondary sealing element encircles the passage. A piston is positioned within the main body. Movement of the piston in a first direction toward the first end of the main body applies a compressive force to the primary sealing element thereby causing the primary sealing element to expand inwardly to form a circumferential seal around the coiled tubing. Movement of the piston in a second direction toward the second end of the main body applies a compressive force to the secondary sealing element thereby causing the secondary sealing element to expand inwardly to form a circumferential seal around the coiled tubing.

  • Patent number: 5960876
Abstract: Wellhead equipment includes a body having a drilling conduit passage, whereby drilling conduit is passed through the body. Polymer sealing elements are disposed within the body and disposed in relation to the passage to seal off well pressure. A circulation passage extends through the body in the vicinity of the polymer sealing elements. The circulation passage has an inlet and an outlet whereby warm fluid is circulated through the circulation passage from the inlet to the outlet thereby raising the temperature of the polymer sealing elements to improve their cold weather performance.

  • Patent number: 5944319
Abstract: A metal to metal seal and a method of forming the same includes providing a pair of opposed clamping faces. Each of the clamping faces surround apertures. Seal grooves serve to widen each of the apertures. Each of the seal grooves have truncated angular corners. A malleable metal sealing ring is positioned in the seal grooves. The sealing ring has truncated angular outer edges complementary to the truncated angular corners in the seal grooves. The clamping faces are clamped together in face to face relation to energize the sealing ring. The sealing ring has an enlarged inner diameter to create an deflectable edge at the truncated annular edges. The subsequent application of internal pressure serves to promote deflection of the metal sealing ring at the truncated angular edges and further energize the sealing ring.
