Abstract: A protective garment for use when riding motorcycles or other vehicles in which the rider is exposed includes protective armor in, for example, portions of the garment covering the back, shoulders, elbows and knees. The armor is attached elastically to the interior of the garment so that it can move freely with the rider instead of being immovably fixed to garment. The armor thus protects the rider's most vulnerable areas from abrasion or impact, regardless of the rider's movements in the garment, and does not restrict the rider's movements or compromise his comfort while in the garment.

Abstract: The invention provides a ventilated garment having at least one vent region with a removable cover element disposed over the vent region. The cover element may include an interior compartment for storage of change, keys and the like. The invention also provides a ventilated garment having vent regions which may open and close in response to the orientation of the vented portions of the garment.

Abstract: A protective garment for use when riding or racing motorcycles or other vehicles in which the rider is exposed and may require aerodynamic advantages. The garment, in one aspect, includes floating armor elements which protect the wearer's body when the garment is being dragged along or against an impact surface. The armor elements can be either removably or permanently attached to the lining. In another aspect, the garment can include a bulk-reducing closure element which forces the garment, when closed, into an aerodynamic profile which is relatively easy and comfortable to maintain because of reduced bulk. The garments can include air permeable vent openings and adjustable, air-impermeable vent covers.

Abstract: A ventilated garment is provided having at least one substantially non-stretchable front panel and at least one rear panel, in which the front and rear panels have an opening therein, and in which the front panel includes a substantially non-stretchable, air permeable, vent panel, having a shape substantially corresponding to the front panel opening, affixed to the front panel along the periphery of the front panel opening. The front panel further includes a cover element having a shape substantially corresponding to the front panel opening. A first portion of the cover element periphery is affixed to the front panel substantially along a first portion of the periphery of the front panel opening.

A cover element having a shape substantially corresponding to at least a potion of the vent region is affixed to the air impermeable lining sheet substantially along a first portion of the periphery of the void region. Adjustable closure elements adjustably couple the sides of the cover element to the air impermeable sheet so that the closure element may be selectively positioned to control the effective vent area of the vent region.
