Patent number: 11467138Abstract: A sensor structure is disclosed comprising at least four planar layers subsuming at least one cavity housed but not contained by overlapping apertures through at least two of the planar layers, wherein the at least one cavity comprises a plurality of chambers, and wherein at least one chamber of the plurality of chambers is configured to be in fluid coupling with at least one other chamber. The plurality of chambers may be defined by overlapping apertures through a plurality of the planar layers. The plurality of chambers may include a Gas Chromatograph (GC) column. The planar layers may be flexible flat glass. The planar layers may be fused together. The layers may be made with apertures through the layers disposed in a desired pattern to define complex structures by the apertures overlapping between abutting layers when the layers are stacked. The planar layers may be configured to admit ultraviolet light.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2021Date of Patent: October 11, 2022Assignee: VAON, LLCInventors: Henry Steen, Vladimir Dobrokhotov, Quentin Lineberry, Jon Paschal

Patent number: 11356039Abstract: A device and method using the electromechanical properties of piezoelectric materials to generate and deliver electrical power to a high speed electrically powered rotatable shaft. The device has a stationary module that is connected to an electrical source; and has a rotatable module, which is mechanically connected to the electrically powered rotatable shaft. The rotatable module rotates relative to the stationary module. When the stationary module is electrically energized, the stationary piezoelectric component expands and causes the rotatable piezoelectric component to compress. When the rotatable piezoelectric component compresses, it generates electrical power transferred to the electrically powered rotatable shaft. Thus, electrical energy can be delivered to the electrically powered rotatable shaft without a direct electrical connection. The present invention is particularly useful in applications requiring large diameter through-hole dimensions.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2020Date of Patent: June 7, 2022Assignee: VAON, LLCInventor: Henry B. Steen

Patent number: 11203183Abstract: A single and multi-layer flat glass-sensor structure and method of making the flat glass-sensor structure. The flat glass sensor structure comprises at least one flat glass layer, a sensor and a heater. The flat glass layer has a plurality of cutouts that are configured to “suspend” the sensor on top of or in plane with the flat glass layer. The sensor is an electrochemical wafer with at least one sensory element and flat glass connectors. Each flat glass connector is in minimal contact with at least one sensory sub-area. The heater is a resistive heating element that is on top of or in plane with the flat glass layer configured to heat the sensor. The flat glass connectors are configured to provide support for electrical leads to the heater and membrane. The flat glass connectors are also configured to provide temperature insulation of the suspended sensor.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2020Date of Patent: December 21, 2021Assignee: VAON, LLCInventors: Henry Steen, Quentin Lineberry, Vladimir Dobrokhotov
