  • Patent number: 7201514
Abstract: A fluid connection assembly is provided for use with x-ray devices. The fluid connection assembly includes an adapter block configured to be attached about an opening in a housing of an x-ray device. The adapter block defines a fluid port and a cylinder in fluid communication with each other. In addition, the fluid connection assembly includes a flow adapter received in a passageway collectively defined by the cylinder of the adapter block and the opening in the housing wall. The flow adapter defines a fluid passageway configured for communication with the fluid port and the interior of the housing of the x-ray device. A sealing element is interposed between the flow adapter and the housing wall. Finally, a resilient element disposed within the cylinder of the adapter block proximate the flow adapter biases the flow adapter into contact with a shield structure inside the housing.

  • Patent number: 7184520
Abstract: A component mounting system that includes a rotor stem, nut, and mechanical interface. The mechanical interface defines a shaped surface and is integral with the component. An axial opening in the component permits the component to be mounted on the rotor stem. The nut defines a second shaped surface and one or more annular slots. As the nut is advanced along a threaded portion of the rotor stem, the shaped surfaces contact each other and serve to automatically center the component on the rotor stem. The annular slot defined by the nut permits the nut to elastically deform under the influence of various operating conditions, and thereby alleviate forces that are exerted on the elements of the component mounting system.

  • Patent number: 7174001
Abstract: An integrated fluid pump for use in circulating a coolant in an x-ray tube is disclosed. The pump includes a pump body, a pump head, and a motor. The pump head defines a pump volume and further includes a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet, and an impeller positioned in the pump volume that is rotatably driven by the motor to receive coolant from the fluid inlet and eject the fluid via the fluid outlet. The pump is structurally integrated with an outer housing of the x-ray tube, the outer housing containing the coolant. In one embodiment, the fluid inlet and a portion of the pump volume are defined by a portion of the outer housing of the x-ray tube. This integration makes the structural completeness of the fluid pump dependent on the outer housing or other suitable x-ray tube component.

  • Patent number: 7142639
Abstract: A dielectric connector for use in high voltage devices, including x-ray tubes, is disclosed. The connector comprises a dielectric material and is pre-formed before attachment to the x-ray tube. Pre-formation of the connector creates a first cavity portion therein that conforms in shape to a corresponding segment of the tube surface. A second cavity portion is also defined for receiving a high voltage receptacle. Upon attachment to the tube, the first cavity portion receives the corresponding tube segment. The high voltage receptacle is received into the second cavity portion and electrically connects with a receptacle defined on the tube surface. The receptacle enables a high voltage signal passing through the electrode to connect with either the anode or cathode disposed within the tube. Pre-formation of the connector enables connector testing and repair to occur before it is attached to the tube, saving resources, time, and cost.

  • Patent number: 7127034
Abstract: A composite stator is disclosed for use with rotationally driven apparatus, particularly high voltage x-ray tubes. The composite stator generally comprises a core, a plurality of motor windings, and a retaining band. The core is comprised of two or more core sections having slots defined therein for receiving the motor windings. The motor windings are wound through and between the slots of the core sections, after which the core sections are joined together to form the core. The core sections are maintained in an assembled configuration by the retaining band. The motor windings are interconnected to comprise the electromagnetic pole pairs of the composite stator, thereby allowing the stator to induce the rotation of the rotor assembly of the high voltage x-ray tube.

  • Patent number: 7123687
Abstract: A method for providing X-ray image data signals corresponding to a selected portion of a two-dimensional image at an enhanced image resolution. During selective exposure of an X-ray receptor to X-ray radiation corresponding to the subject image, image pixel data corresponding to the region of interest (used pixels) are read out with normal pixel data pixel discharge times and at the normal pixel data rate, while image pixel data corresponding to the region not of interest (unused pixels) are read out also with normal pixel data pixel discharge times and at either the normal pixel data rate or an increased pixel data rate. During such pixel data readout intervals, the X-ray radiation exposure can be continuous or selectively pulsed.
