  • Publication number: 20230211184
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for identifying radiation therapy treatment data for patients. A processor accesses a neural network trained based on a first set of data generated from characteristic values of a first set of patients that received treatment at one or more first radiotherapy machines. The processor executes the neural network using a second set of data comprising characteristic values of a second set of patients receiving treatment at one or more second radiotherapy machines. The processor executes a calibration model using an output of the neural network based on the second set of data to output a calibration value. The processor executes the neural network using a set of characteristics of a first patient to output a first confidence score associated with a first treatment attribute. The processor then adjusts the first confidence score according to the calibration value to predict the first treatment attribute.

  • Patent number: 11692851
Abstract: A method of measuring a rotational position of an assembly with circumferential ferromagnetic teeth includes applying an excitation signal for a cycle to an actuator, the cycle causing a first rotational displacement of a first ferromagnetic tooth from a first rotational position to a second rotational position and a second rotational displacement of a second ferromagnetic tooth from the second rotational position to a third rotational position. The method further includes measuring a plurality of first signal outputs from a magnetoresistive sensor during the cycle; determining one or more signal offset values based on the plurality of first signal outputs; applying the signal excitation for a portion of a second cycle to the actuator; measuring second signal outputs from the magnetoresistive sensor; generating corrected signals by modifying the second signal outputs with the signal offset values; and, based on the corrected signals, determining a rotational position of the assembly.

  • Publication number: 20230201631
Abstract: An example method of radiation therapy in a radiation therapy system that includes a gantry with a treatment-delivering X-ray source and an imaging X-ray source mounted thereon is described. The method includes rotating the gantry in a first direction at a first rotational velocity about an open bore and concurrently rotating an annular support structure at a second rotational velocity about the open bore, wherein the second rotational velocity is less than the first rotational velocity. While continuing to rotate the gantry in the first direction about the open bore from a first position to a treatment position, the method also includes generating multiple images of a target volume disposed in the bore using the imaging X-ray source. Upon rotating the gantry to the treatment position, the method includes initiating delivery of a treatment beam to the target volume with the treatment-delivering X-ray source.

  • Patent number: 11684800
Abstract: A control circuit accesses information regarding a plurality of pre-existing vetted radiation treatment plans for a variety of patients and uses that information to train at least one model (such as a dose volume histogram estimation model). The control circuit then uses that model to develop estimates for a radiation treatment plan for a particular patient. The control circuit can then use those estimates to develop a candidate radiation treatment plan.

  • Patent number: 11679278
Abstract: A photon source emits a flattening filter-free photon beam. A control circuit operably couples to a multi-layer multi-leaf collimator that is disposed between the photon source and a treatment area of a patient. The control circuit automatically arranges operation of some, but not all, of the layers of the multi-layer multi-leaf collimator to serve as a virtual flattening filter with respect to the flattening filter-free photon beam emitted by the photon source. By one approach, another of the layers of the multi-layer multi-leaf collimator serves to form a treatment aperture corresponding to a shape of the treatment area of the patient. By one approach the control circuit comprises an integral part of a treatment platform (as versus a dedicated treatment planning platform) and can carry out most or even essentially all of the planning steps that lead to administration of the treatment to a patient.

  • Patent number: 11673003
Abstract: Radiation treatment planning includes accessing values of parameters such as a number of beams to be directed into sub-volumes in a target, beam directions, and beam energies. Information that specifies limits for the radiation treatment plan are accessed. The limits include a limit on irradiation time for each sub-volume outside the target. Other limits can include a limit on irradiation time for each sub-volume in the target, a limit on dose rate for each sub-volume in the target, and a limit on dose rate for each sub-volume outside the target. The values of the parameters are adjusted until the irradiation time for each sub-volume outside the target satisfies the maximum limit on irradiation time.

  • Patent number: 11676295
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and system for training artificial intelligence models configured to execute image segmentation techniques. The methods and system describe a server that receives a first image including a set of pixels depicting multiple objects. The server also receives a second image having a second set of pixels depicting the same set of objects. The server then analyzes the pixels from the first and second images. When a difference between at least one visual attribute of a pixel within the second image and a corresponding pixel within the first image satisfies a predetermined threshold, it will be encoded as spikes to send to the model, the model will be trained using supervised STDP rule by revising weights associated with the nodes within the AI model where the node corresponds to the pixels within the first and/or the second image.
