  • Patent number: 5611559
Abstract: The invention describes a binding unit (2) between a boot and an item of sports equipment, in particular a ski binding, with a front jaw (3) and a rear jaw (4) which are connected to each other at a presettable distance (6) by a connecting element (5) and form a binding unit (2) which is slidable in the longitudinal direction of the ski (1) in a longitudinal guide (8) which is arranged on the ski and can be fixed thereon. The binding unit (2) comprises a locking device (10) for locking the binding unit (2) relative to the longitudinal guide (8) or ski (1). Between the binding unit (2) and the longitudinal guide (8) and/or the item of sports equipment is arranged an adjusting device (13) which includes supporting elements fixed to the ski at a distance one behind the other in the longitudinal direction of the binding unit (2), e.g. transverse webs between latching slots in a latching strip, and at least one setting member which comprises an actuating member.

  • Patent number: 5362088
Abstract: A ski binding for a longitudinally extending ski including a forked toe clamp including two fork prongs for holding a front part of the ski boot. The forked toe clamp is rotatable around an axis. The ski binding also includes a forked heel clamp for holding a rear part of a ski boot. A tension screw spring and a slot are provided. The forked heel clamp is guided in the longitudinal direction by the slot and is biased toward the toe clamp by the tension screw spring. A centering apparatus formed as two flexible spring devices and are located on the two clamps between the two fork prongs. The force of the spring devices is approximately equal to the force of the tension screw spring so that, when the forked toe clamp is rotated, the spring devices prevent the ski boot from moving in the longitudinal direction toward the axis.

  • Patent number: 5344178
Abstract: An adjustable coupling device for coupling a ski boot to a ski. The coupling device has a longitudinal axis and includes a toe binding, a heel binding and length adjustment device. The length adjustment device is capable of altering the distance between the toe binding and the heel binding along the longitudinal axis to accommodate different-size ski boots. The length adjustment device has a first drive element connected to the toe binding and a second drive element connected to the heel binding. The drive elements can be moved and set at a position corresponding to the length of the ski boots. An attachment device is provided to attach one of the bindings to a surface of the ski at one of several preset positions in such a manner that the remainder of the coupling device can move freely in a direction perpendicular to the surface. Alternatively, the attachment device may attach both of the bindings to the surface.

  • Patent number: 5236218
Abstract: The invention relates to a ski binding (1) with a toe-holding unit (2) and a heel-holding unit (3). Release mechanisms (8) are integrated in the latter and can be set to different releasing forces. Detachably fastened on the ski are longitudinal guidance devices (5, 6) for the toe-holding and/or heel-holding unit (2, 3), which are movably connected to the connecting element (4). The toe-holding and/or heel-holding unit (2, 3) can be fixed by an arresting device (17) for fixing the toe-holding unit (2) in a longitudinal guidance device (5) and/or a transverse guidance device (74).

  • Patent number: 5213356
Abstract: A coupling device between a ski boot and a ski having a top surface and a toe binding. The toe binding engages the ski boot and is pivotal around a first axis which is perpendicular to the top surface of the ski. The coupling device also includes a heel binding for engaging the ski boot. A carrier device having a front end, a back end and two sides, is located between the toe binding and the heel binding for supporting the ski boot. The carrier device is pivotal around a second and third axis which are arranged along the back end of the carrier device and are parallel to the first axis. Also, connection means are provided for operatively connecting the toe binding to the front end of the carrier device so that the carrier device can pivot around one of the axes jointly with the toe binding pivoting around the first axis.

  • Patent number: 5211418
Abstract: A damping device is arranged between a surface of a ski and a binding holding a ski boot on the ski surface. The binding has a toe clamping member and a heel clamping member supported on a surface of a respective support portion. The damping device has a respective damping plate having an extension projecting from each support portion, the damping plate extensions extending towards each other in the same plane and having facing end faces defining therebetween at least a small gap. The damping plate extensions overlap in the direction of the longitudinal extension of the ski and are freely displaceable relative to each other in this direction.

  • Patent number: 5046751
Abstract: A connecting arrangement for fixing a ski boot to a ski comprises a supporting element having thereon coupling devices in the form of joins, for gripping the ski boot. The supporting element is coupled to the ski by means of a mounting device. The mounting device may comprise two mounting parts which are mutually adjustable in a longitudinal plane extending perpendicularly to the upper part of the ski and substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the ski, or the mounting device may be deformable in the longitudinal plane mentioned above. Deformations of the ski, when in use, relative to the boot are thereby taken up.
