  • Patent number: 7509979
Abstract: A device for slowing down and disintegrating a plug of liquid plunging forward in a duct includes a container having a bottom and an opposite inlet, which is connectable to the duct and through which the plug of liquid can be directed into a central, axial trajectory in the container. Inside the container is an inner tube, open towards the bottom, which separates an inner hollow space from an outer, cross-section-wise ring-shaped hollow space, a distributor body being arranged in the trajectory of the entering plug of liquid for splitting and disintegrating the plug of liquid as well as throwing out the disintegrated constituent parts of liquid in the direction outwards from the center. The bottom includes a concavely curved guide surface for diverting the liquid from one of the hollow spaces to the other to reverse the direction of motion of the liquid. A corresponding method is also provided.

  • Patent number: 6817181
Abstract: A method for operating a heat-producing plant having a chamber for burning chlorine-containing fuels and a channel connected with the chamber, in which a plurality of consecutive heat-transferring devices are located, which can heated by hot flue gas which flows through the channel in the direction from the combustion chamber towards an outlet. The flue gas is conditioned by addition of a sulphur-containing additive injected into the flue gas downstream a combustion zone and upstream that heat-transferring device being the first to be hit by the flue gas. Alkaline chlorides are sulphated thereby reducing chlorine-induced corrosion of the heat-transferring devices. As additive ammonium sulphate ((NH4)2SO4), ammonium bisulphate ((NH4)HSO4), ferrous sulphate (FeSO4), or sulphuric acid (H2SO4), is used, in order to form reactive sulphur trioxide (SO3).

  • Patent number: 6138381
Abstract: A process of treating moist fuel, particularly biomass fuel, in connection with a power production process, comprises drying moist fuel (7) by means of combustion air (3), which is thereafter supplied to the power production process combustion section (1). Flue gas (11) from the combustion section, which as a result of said drying has become moisture-laden, is condensed (13) while recovering heat (15), which may be used as drying heat. In accordance with a preferred embodiment, the flue gas condensation is used to humidify (31) the combustion air.

  • Patent number: 5777401
Abstract: A circuitry (1) for reducing the magnetic field from multi-phase power lines for high voltage alternating current is disclosed. One phase (R) is split into two branches (R1, R2) forming a closed loop along a line portion (L). The self-reactance of the loop is adjusted for minimal magnetic field generation in the vicinity of the power line by a coupling to a compensation device, in the form of a capacitor (12), in a separate circuit (11), via a transformer (2).
