Abstract: The present invention is directed to an electrical connector having a resilient gasket between mating components. This resilient gasket serves a dual purpose. The resilient gasket provides both a seal and also when compressed, loads the electrical connector in a manner that resists vibration.

Abstract: An electrical power connector is disclosed having a plug and receptacle. The plug includes a coupling ring having a single handle extending radially therefrom. The coupling ring is freely rotatable within limits on the plug when the plug is not coupled to the receptacle. The receptacle includes one or more bayonet ramps to which the coupling ring can be coupled. Advantageously, the plug can be coupled to the receptacle with 120° rotation or less by rotating the coupling ring 120° or less. The plug and receptacle each include a colored locking indicator to indicate to the person coupling the plug to the receptacle that the receptacle and plug are properly aligned to each other when coupled. Also an audible indication of locking is provided when the electrical plug and receptacle are fully coupled.

Abstract: An optical connector is disclosed which includes self-closing shutters to protect the optical contacts from environmental contamination when male and female portions of the connector are disconnected. The optical connector is comprised of male and female portions having means for permitting interconnection while the male and female portions are slightly axially misaligned. Male and female portions of the optical connector each contain one or more spring loaded optical contacts protected by a shutter mechanism and having a body with a spring loaded shutter cap and a shutter disk. The shutter disk contains two apertures which can be made to align with two apertures in the cap of the shutter when the shutter is rotated to an open position. The optical contacts contained in each portion of the optical connector are exposed for interconnection when the male and female portions of the optical connector are joined together.
