  • Patent number: 4742789
Abstract: The invention relates to automatic sewing and/or joining of textiles, high polymer materials, leather and metals. The object of the invention is to automate the sewing opertion system, to improve the quality of the seam and to conserve labor. A self-regulating system has to be created. According to the invention, the sewing operation is carried out as a control process, in which the deviation of the produced seam shape from the stored seam shape serves as a control value for the transporting elements of the sewing goods. For this, one or a plurality of detection heads and light emitters are arranged in the area of the seaming point, and are connected to an information processing system. The seam shape initially arising is transformed into storable data, is stored together with other data of the seam, and the seam path arising from automatic sewing is compared with the stored data. Deviations from the desired seam path are at once automatically corrected.

  • Patent number: 4698957
Abstract: A method of controlling a roving frame to produce good quality results with fewer procedural interruptions and without knowing precise parameters of the textile material being processed. To this end, optimum roving tension during the laying down of each roving layer on a bobbin is successively determined from nominal values for bobbin rotational speed based on only a one-time estimate of material parameters.

  • Patent number: 4689187
Abstract: The invention includes a method and an extrusion apparatus for shaping plastic materials particularly those of high molecular weight, whereby the temperature distribution in an extrusion cylinder allows for the build-up of very high pressures and all axial pressure forces are absorbed by a two-sided extruder screw, the extrusion cylinder and, in some instances, the therein contained plastic material. In practicing the method, the plastic material in a flowing state, and at a positive pressure, is continuously conveyed to an extrusion apparatus, and subsequent to its entrance in an extrusion cylinder and before its discharge is cooled to a temperature below the solidification point, not only from the outside by a cooling source in the extrusion cylinder but also from the inside by a cooling source in the interior of the extruder screw. The present invention makes possible the production of materials of improved strength and elasticity, which can be molded to synthetic threads, films and splittable films.

  • Patent number: 4649720
Abstract: In a straight and circular knitter, a control arrangement for supplying information upon needle selection on circulation knitting carriages includes a central control station provided with a main computer storing all information for controlling the knitting machine. Each knitting carriage is equipped with a control unit including an auxiliary computer, an end stage for operating the needles and a bus control circuit. The main computer is connected to respective circulating control units via a slide contact track and contact shoes coupled to respective auxiliary computers. The microprocessors in respective control units are interconnected by a bus including a transmitting line, a receiving and a bus control line. The bus control line forms with the bus control circuits and microcomputers of respective control units a closed loop which controls the transmission of error data to the main computer in the event that an error is detected in a control unit.

  • Patent number: 4638647
Abstract: A flat-weft knitting machine for producing a weft-and-warp-knit fabric, e.g., a stitch knitting machine, employs a weft yarn insertion device, which moves backward and forward, for constantly guiding a continuous thread or yarn group. The insertion device transfers one weft yarn group of the yarn group to first and second weft yarn conveyor means. The weft yarn group is then separated from the insertion device and the yarn group. The weft yarn group thus has free ends at both ends and is then conveyed by the weft yarn conveyor means to a looping point, for connection with loop-forming warp yarns to form a fabric.

  • Patent number: 4628571
Abstract: A non-woven fabric is produced by the transportation of a fiber flow at an angle which is less than 90.degree. to the transport direction of the non-woven fabric to be manufactured, with the feed rate of the fiber flow being controlled, the fibers which are to form a fiber layer being placed next to one another, and with the formed fiber layer being simultaneously, and in the lateral border areas of the fiber layers, being consecutively, combined with the preceding fiber layer, reinforcing the produced non-woven fabric. The angle of the fiber flow to the transport direction of the non-woven fabric to be manufactured is set between 0.degree. and 89.degree.. The controlling of the fiber flow comprises monitoring of the quantity feed rate and/or dissociation of the fiber flow and/or fiber mixing, immediately prior to the formation of a fiber layer.

  • Patent number: 4615186
Abstract: Cam gear for textile machines, especially for pattern controlling of warp-knitting (chain stitching) machines. Generally, the development concerns a cam gear for textile machines having cams. The present configuration avoids the interferences, caused by oscillations, in the cam gears of textile machines. One advantage is that the occurring oscillations are influenced, and resonance phenomena are avoided, within the practical range of the normal rotation speed of textile machines.

  • Patent number: 4577854
Abstract: The solution according to the invention serves to position textile surface configurations, especially cut parts for pieces of clothing. It is the object of the invention to create an apparatus, with which sewing material parts can be positioned in two coordinates in a simple manner. In the invention, the sewing material is moved against a contact edge of a positioning table in the x-direction by air nozzles, which are alternately guided by sensors. The sewing material edge is clamped by a vertically-adjustable clamping device. The positioning table is then moved in the y-direction until the sewing material edge reaches a sensor.
