  • Patent number: 6893256
Abstract: The invention is based on the problem of designing an endless sealing ring for the end wall seal of rotary kilns so that it guarantees a high degree of sealing effectiveness with simpler assembly. The most desired features are small tolerances for cross section and diameter. Rotary-kiln end-wall seals according to the invention should exhibit very low wear and tear if possible and have a service life that corresponds to the maintenance intervals of the rotary kiln as much as possible.

  • Patent number: 6558157
Abstract: A rotary drum for carrying out chemical processes at elevated temperatures which includes a rolling body arrangement for cleaning the interior of the drum, a stationary feed end for the material to be treated, a mounting device for the rolling body arrangement on the feed end of the rotary drum, and a rotary bearing that allows the rolling body to roll on the inner side of the rotary drum wall and which connects the rolling body to the mounting device. The rotary drum further including an oblong scraping device which is arranged between the mounting device and said rotary bearing. Since the scraping device is mounted on the mounting device, it is able to carry out a pendulum motion in at least one direction, but unable to turn about itself, and the end of the scraping device on the side of the rotary bearing is connected to the rotary bearing in such a way that it is able to carry out a pendulum motion in at least one direction.

Abstract: A revolving drum containing a rolling element is provided that includes a member for the cleaning of the inner wall areas of the revolving drum which has at least two cleaning zones. The cleaning zones include projecting cleaning elements and lie in tandem in an axial direction of the revolving drum. They include a fastening apparatus disposed on a front end pointing toward the infeed side of the drum and include a revolving articulation by which the rolling element can be fastened to a non-revolving component of a head of the revolving drum. The cleaning zones comprise generated surfaces of the revolving drum which are at an angle to one another.

  • Patent number: 5948370
Abstract: A process for the removal of dust from gas that has been produced by low temperature carbonization is provided. The process separates solid particles by means of washing oil in a spray washer that also cools the gases that have been produced by low temperature carbonization. The process includes intensively wetting the gases that have been produced with oils that have been condensed out of the stream of the gas. At least a first and second washing stage is provided in the spray washer. The mass flow comprising the washing oil and condensate is collected in the second washing stage and subdivided. Thereafter, the mass flow is fed to both the first and second washing stage as recirculated and recycled washing oil.
