To provide the function of the absent creels, an array of rail elements is positioned above each spinning machine, the rail elements having detent mechanisms defining the locations of the bobbin stations, are provided in the overhead conveyor system. A cleaning device moves along an overhead rail and is provided with a driving device which also drives the bobbin carriers.

    Abstract: Described is a suspension conveyor system for conveying bobbins (1) to predetermined bobbin positions (RSP) in a spinning mill machine, particularly a ring spinning machine, the suspension conveyor system comprising a conveying path passing along the predetermined bobbin positions (RSP) for the travel therealong of at least one driven conveyor train (4) carrying a plurality of bobbins (1). A transfer mechanism (14, 14') mounted for travelling along the spinning mill machine is provided for the transfer of individual bobbins (1) from the conveying path to the predetermined bobbin positions. In order to achieve a rapid and accurate transfer of bobbins (1) to the ring spinning machine the invention proposes to provide a bobbin carriage (14, 14') adapted to travel parallel to the conveying path (3) in unison with the conveyor train (4) and carrying a separating and guide mechanism (16, 30, 32) for the transfer of an individual bobbin (1) from the conveyor train (4) to a predetermined bobbin position (RSP).

    Abstract: Suspension transport systems which operate automatically or predominantly automatically and which are used for the transport of spools make use of whole trains on which a plurality of spools is arranged. This, however, means that, e.g., in a ring spinning frame, the whole train will have to be exchanged when the first spool is empty. In order to avoid the resultant waste and in order to provide increased flexibility in the motion of the spools used in such a system of automatized or largely automatized operation, the present suspension transport system uses spools equipped with a travelling device of their own, the travelling device remaining on the spool when the spool is inserted into a processing machine. It is thus possible to handle each spool individually, as well as in a train. The suspension transport system is particlarly suitable for transverse insertion into a ring spinning frame.

    Abstract: A rail switch (1), particularly for an overhead conveyor system, adapted to assume at least two switch positions (I, II, III) for selectively connecting a first rail (2) comprising a runway (2a, 2b) for casters (7a, 7b) of conveyor carriages (6) to the free ends of other rails (3, 4, 5). The switch includes a switch portion (10) carrying a corresponding runway (10a, 10b) and having one of its ends connected to the free end of the first rail (2) by a hinge (9) permitting it to be pivoted about a pivot axis (11) so that the opposite free end of the switch portion (10) may be selectively connected to the free ends of the other rails (3, 4, 5). To ensure substantially smooth passage of the casters (7a, 7b) over the hinge (9), the runway adjacent the hinge (9) is formed by mutually overlapping runway surface portions (17a, 17b, 19a, 19b) on the switch portion (10) and on the first rail (2).
